Can we make fun of Quebec instead? It's so much more fun and more on topic with a Canada BS thread.

I think the Conservative brand would have been wise to sense the desire for " change " and run on a platform of something other than " lets keep doing exactly the same thing "

    :notsure:

I'm pretty sure someone voted that government in... maybe it was this guy, I heard he worked for the PC's

In all seriousness any minority government we get won't last more than 6 months. Odds are in favor of a minority Liberal win. The NDP will demand that Trudeau balance the budget and enact his election promises as well as theirs. The Liberals, actually having some sound financial thinking, won't add on the 30 billion dollars of taxes to Canadians or the companies that employ Canadians during a recession, and that will force a vote of non confidence.

We will be back at the polls next spring. Heck, maybe I'm wrong, but a lot of people are think the same thing.

The $10B deficit concern is so massively over played when you consider the fraction that it represents in the overall budget

Whats not going to be beneficial is putting off infastructure repairs for another 4 years

And I hope that if the Grits win a minority we go to the Paris Climate talks with a plan that isn't the laughing stock of the rest of the world like now

Point blank, I think 10 billion dollars on top of a ~300 billion dollar is a big deal during a recession. Especially when a balanced budget was promised. That money has to come from ~15 million tax payers some how. BTW in a coalition you aren't talking about one parties promises either, you are talking about a combination of both parties promises, so you can kiss a 10 billion dollar increase goodbye as it flies away behind you.

What infrastructure repairs? Are you talking about all the money the NDP promised for roads and mass transit? AFAIK those were blank cheque promises. I'd like to see some actual projects proposed with that money before celebrating it. Promising 5 billion over the next dozen or so odd years for Edmontons mass transit is great when that city has failed to produce a viable plan for mass transit for over 3 decades. Plenty of infrastructure spending is going on right now, and any spending commitments made are likely in line with what's been spent through the Canada Action Plan.

I'll be honest OZ-T, I'm not very pro climate change regulation. Mostly because it favors nations that are the largest emitters and future emitters like China and penalizes a country like us with few people over a vast distance. While I don't think ignoring the talks is good, I don't think catering to what the world wants is good for Canada either on that front.

The Liberals platform is to invest the $10B into infastructure

Great. I bet they cut it from the military budget too. Then we can send over more peacekeepers with less equipment like we did in the 90's. My mom was glad she got out when she did from the Canadian Forces. Being a higher up logistics officer was a nightmare when you were expected to equip F18's with rubber bands and duct tape.

I would guess a lot of that has to do with more military infrastructure catching up after the dark years of the 80's and 90's eating up deployment dollars and less to do with Harper hoarding our troops for some other purpose.

For less deployments? Yes, I'm glad you agree that when you have to spend billions to replace equipment that is older than the Canada Act you have less money to spend actually deploying troops. Funny how that works out.

Not sure why you're trying to pigeon hole me into supposedly saying something I didn't
