So Saturday I brought home my 2015 Tacoma, side by side I looked at the 2015 to the 2016, the price was not a significant difference but for me the new style just does not look as tough/bad ass as the 2015..

    Thoughts?

id rather have a 2016.... more mpgs, more features, new drive train.... dunno why on earth you would buy a 10 year old "new" truck.

(dont get me wrong, i love my 2013.... but after they started removing features on the 2014 - 2015, dunno why you would buy one of those vs the 2016)

I was in this same situation. I picked the 15 for the only reason that they were willing to discount it more than normal to get it off their lot for the 16s. I am not one that gets jollies from new styling, I just wanted something dead nuts reliable that can haul some stuff around. I probably would have waited a bit for a 16 to wait for the manufacturing kinks to get worked out. Remodel years make me nervous. I trust Toyota more with them than any of the big 3 but still.

Wise decision on the stable 2015.

The 2016 is unproven with a modified new engine, transmission, and a recent recall.

That was my thinking when I bought a brand new Glock 19 gen 4 when they were first released... I think you know how that one went. :censored:

The interesting thing here, is if a 1st gen Tacoma was re-released, it would probably outsell the 3rd gens even though it's 20 year old design...

I test drove a 2016. Exterior: ok. Interior: awesome. Engine: Unimpressed. Price: Unimpressed. For the price increase, I think I was expecting a lot more.
I have my truck built exactly how I want and don't feel like starting over just yet. I'll probably buy in 2017 or 2018 after the first year bugs are worked out.

Yup, never in Toyota history there was any truck with so many problems in first month of production.
Thats what happens when quality gets replaced with cheap junk. And 2016 Truck is not that cheap.
New engine is US produced and look at all the issues.
    :smack: dum ass Yota....

first, I bought a 15 in February so I'm cool with my choice BUT after seeing in person NOT driving the "new" 16 if your only asking about "style" I would have waited and got a 16 sans Atkins (kidding, it is probably not on a diet but you know) engine. Yep my truck is 10 years old blah blah....got it. To each his own. I think Toyota did a pretty good refresh from a style standpoint. the rest remains to be proven>>>>

I prefer the 3rd gen but I do like the 4.0 in the 2nd gen more.

Nah. Maybe dudes like us would be all over the first gen if it came out again, but the general public wouldn't be too keen on it me thinks.

The only way the general public would like it is if they were considerably cheaper. No more than 25K for a loaded 1 gen TRD.

Little surprised its 21 to 9 in the vote, perhaps that will change in time.. Mine however will not, love the look of the 2015.. But will never diss any Tacoma..
