No one to blame in that one, Joey just got tired of the blocks when Kenseth almost put him in the wall so he moved him, good to see that kind of mentality still exist in the sport.

That's the funny thing about the win today. Joey was already locked into the next playoff round. Now all the guys who would be gunning for his rear quarter panel will be distracted by a Must Win situation at Talladega. Whether intentional or not, today's events were genius mind games on Joey's part going forward. And, contrary to my posts, I'm not a Joey fan. I am an Anti Harvick and anti-Gibbs guy. I am a Penske & Ford fan (though I've never pulled for Roush drivers). I'm a big Wood Brother's fan, so I root for whoever is wheeling the #21.

I think it's kind of a dick move to wreck someone when you have nothing to gain from it. It's like keeping the 1st team offense in during the 4th quarter so you win 70-3 instead of 49-3.

he had a lot to gain by eliminating Kennseth. If Kennseth doesn't make the next cut that plays out better for Logano seeing as the gibbs cars have been really good.

My favorite thing printed this morning:

"NASCAR fans constantly scream about wanting guys to fight tooth-and-nail for wins, but as soon as they do, someone’s an idiot. It’s baffling.

    Couple things:

-Neither driver did anything wrong. Matt Kenseth was doing everything he possibly could to keep Joey Logano behind him. Logano, meanwhile, had a run and with five laps to go and a win on the line, he’s not lifting. Nor should he.

-To that point… yes, Logano is already secure in the Eliminator Round thanks to his win at Charlotte. But Roger Penske employs him to go out and try to win races. Logano is out there to win races for his team. If I’m on his team and I see him not give everything he’s got to win a race, regardless of whether he “needs” it or not? I’d feel some type of way.

-Not only that, but if I’m Logano, and I have a chance to make a potential championship threat’s life hell next week at Talladega, I’m definitely going to take it. Could Kenseth go out there and win at Talladega? Absolutely, but now that he has to in order to advance, life’s harder for him. That’s one of the wrinkles that makes this particular Chase format so enthralling.

-I’m pro-blocking. What I mean by that is… I hate sanctioning bodies that outlaw it (looking at you, IndyCar). Blocking is a legitimate racing strategy, and it’s incredibly effective in terms of self-policing. And as we often see in NASCAR, you get one block. You try for two… things happen. Just ask Kenseth on Sunday. Or Kyle Busch at Daytona. Or Carl Edwards at Talladega. Block me once, shame on me. Block me twice, shame on you.

-Yesterday was a lot of fun. Talladega should be more so."

I hear they're possibly changing the GWC rule for this weekend. Why can't NASCAR leave the damn rules alone in the middle of the season?!?

After Daytona in July all the owners were tired of taking home scrap piles instead of race cars. Something about cost cutting measures. Makes sense. I think GWC at plate tracks is a recipe for disaster.

Agreed, but quit making all these rule changes mid-season. Hate to say it buttttt cut Daytona and Talladega from the schedule all together. Nothing but boring pack racing and not much to see in person due to the size of the tracks.

It's worse, get to see the pack for 2 seconds every minute. They just need to make plate racing 20 laps and be done with it, it'll never again be like it was.

Yeah, but how fucked up is the chase? 5wins and no chance of a championship.... Sorry, that's bullshit. I like Gordon, but him and Newman do NOT deserve to have a chance. If you can't win your not a champion....

I too grew up going to Daytona before modern plate racing. I don't know what changed. The plate racing of the early '90s looked very similar to the racing that took place in the '80s on the same track. I think it was TV ratings more than anything else that has a stranglehold on how new plate rule packages evolved. The potential for a big one keeps folks glued to the TV like a hurricane watch.

While it makes for TV I don't care to watch, being at any race track is still a thrill, whether it's a 1/3 mile local shortie or a Speedway. Loud cars going fast will always get me right in the gut.

Neither should Kyle Busch. Shouldn't be able to skip 1/3 of the season and be a contender at the end.

He has enough wins too... More than Gordon and Newman... They need to just go by the most wins, and make the chase longer, with only winners able to advance. Kyle EARNED his way in with all those wins.... he had more than keselowski....
TBH I hate the TV war crap.... They cant just get a decent announce/interview team together, and stick with them.... MSNBC puts me to sleep when that Australian sounding guy brodcasts thes xfinity races.
