After many successful attempts at fixing my overhead compass/temp gauge, it has finally bit the dust... sort of. Considering I am not fluent with electrical components, I just applied soder to the 510 resistor. That method worked twice over the course of two years until it quit tonight. I attempted the soder process again, but it took five tries before it light up. In the process, I tried to untangle the wire and ended up touching the tip of the iron to the glass... which resulted in a nice smoked look :anonymous: Now I'm looking at purchasing a new unit. eBay is asking $110 and I find it a tad high, but I wanted to see if anyone knew a place that sold them cheaper?

Thank you! I checked on Amazon yesterday and I'm planning on ordering one. I might go ahead and replace the 510 resistors with the 470's much like you did. If I hadn't of burnt the glass/plastic material on the display, I'd probably attempt something similar.
