Jumped in my truck this morning to head to town and when I tried to move it would'nt go. The right rear wheel was locked up. Jacked it up and put it in neutral and tried spinning the wheels by hand. Left rear spun easily but the right rear would only move about an inch then stop. Yes the parking brake was disengaged. Started it up and tried going from reverse to drive a few times. First it would'nt spin then it would go a little in reverse but not foward. After a few more attempts it freed up. Drove the truck to town and home ( about a 25 mile round trip) without any other issues. Anyone else experience a similar problem? Stopped by the dealer while in town but they were clueless. Have an appointment with them next Friday to check it out. My truck is a 2007 DC 4x4 Auto with the off road package. And it only has 6700 miles on it and never been offroad. Thanks for any helpful info.

Sounds like the rear drum brake froze up. I would pull the drum off and inspect.

:annoyed:I tried going foward and reverse before I jacked it up and it would'nt move. Actually I dragged the right rear about 6 feet. Nice black skid mark on my driveway. Maybe the right park brake cable might be sticking but I could move the wheel about an inch by hand back and forth in neutral with it off the ground. Just hope it's not a problem with the differential. See what the dealer finds next week. Maybe I just need to use it more!

I only use it on weekends. I did move it on Wednesday to wash it. It gets driven once a week to town. But on an island you can only drive so far!:)

Thanks Bart! Just kind of worried if it happens again like at a mall or store somewhere.

That happened to me once after washing the truck and letting it sit for a week. It freed up finally and made a noise after it broke free...I figured it was the drum getting rusted up. That was a couple years ago and hasn't happened since. I've read that other's have had it happen after launching a boat.

I know everytime I used to drop my jetski in the water the drum would be "frozen" from the salt buildup. Especially at Kahului Harbor, the wholetruck was almost underwater before the jetski would float.

Wow You know Kahului harbor ! Are you originally from Maui?
Yeah I hope it's probably just because I washed it and let it sit for 2 days. And it's been raining those last 2 days too Took it to town again today and no problems. See what the dealers says next week. I can also find out about the floor mat issue and need to ask them about the TSB on the rear leafs before my warranty runs out in January. Thanks guys!

I think brake shoes might have a certain amount of metal content in them....maybe?? For whatever reason, when drum brakes get wet and then sit, the shoes can stick to the drum. This happened to me many times on 2 of my previous vehicles, a '77 Camaro and a '92 Explorer. It has never happened to me on anything with 4 wheel disc brakes.

It was never a problem after it broke free. Everything always worked normal again.
