A little too aggressive for a newb like me ha. I tried some Katanas. Realized I need beginner friendly shows and got some.

Already have some Anasazis. They're perfect for me so far.

Just got back from 3 days 2 nights backcountry in Big Sur. Went to Pico Blanco. Lots and lots of poison oak on the trail. It was super hot out but I wore long sleeve and pants the entire time. Even though I was covered up, I am stilled scared of getting a rash. But it was a fun trip, just not long enough.

Just a bunch of old crap
Never had a failure either. Just probing for any other's experiences with valve fails on canisters.

I boiled water within 3 minutes at 12,600' with my JetBoil and cheap fuel. That stove really is efficient and my primary go-to.

Sports Chalet, Dick's Sporting Goods for me (in AZ)

I have the 6', and I use it all the time. Setup and takedown is only 2 minutes each, and coverage is great. It's mounted to my bed rack, which is cab height. Matches perfectly with my Tepui RTT (both grey). I prefer it to an EZ Up because it's simple to work with, but it is less coverage.

Can't say enough good things about JetBoils. So simple and reliable.

My wife and I were literally in that exact same spot in late August. We camped about 200 yards to the left of this picture, next to a nice rock outcropping that made for a great workspace and windbreak. Nice flat spot for tent, just far enough away from the water to follow the rules. I walked through that little trail she is standing on, and just through the brush and over another outcropping to find the spot. We were back there for 5 days, starting at Toulumne and finishing at DP. Absolute favorite backpacking trip I've ever done. Couldn't keep the brook trout off the hook, too.

    Enjoy!

Went outdoor climbing for 4 hours Saturday and 5 hours Sunday for the first time. Way different then in the gym! Loved the challenge! Going again Saturday.

Pack hammocks, anyone got em? I never been around them and might try one out?

Haven't used one solely as a shelter yet, but I always pack a hammock when backpacking. I have the eno double nest and it's great to lay on ans relax after hiking for miles. I am looking at buying the Hennessy ultralight combo to use for next spring and summer though.

I'm in the minority it seems but I hate them ha. Can't roll over, toss and turn, or get comfy, cold breeze under you leaving a bit of chill, need to find a place to suspend it, etc.

But, probably the most packable/lightweight sleeping system around so if it fits your climate, area (trees), etc and your back doesn't hate you got it they're pretty awesome ha.

I think I'm the only one of my group of outdoorsman who doesn't have one...

Picked up some Prana Zion pants. Not as comfy as I had read reviews on but still great. I like the comfort, look and sleekness of the Brion but my dang thunder thighs don't look right in em. I hate "slim fit" everything now days ha not all of us are scrawny hipsters!

May get a pair of the Brions anyway. Hiking I care more about comfort than looks.

    Anyone have favorite pants/shorts?

I've had the Eddie Bauer First Ascent Guide Pants/Shorts for years now and haven't found anything nearly as comfortable or stretchy.

I wouldn't sleep in one. Just thought it would be nice to kick it in at the end of the day. Probably just stay at base camp or if I was truck camping.

I'll look up that eno, thanks.

Hahahha I wear the prana zions. Fits good. The other pants I have are very big. The pranas aren't slim on me but aren't too baggy.

I use a Grand Trunk skeeter beeter pro, and a Hennessy tarp (can't remember the model, but it's their largest). I've backpacked with it a few times as my sleep system, and it works well even in rainy weather. Great summer setup, but you have to rig some things to keep warm underneath in the cooler months. Hammock camping is an art, no doubt.

For trips when I have a tent, I bring along my Grand Trunk single hammock just to lounge around in, or I'll take it with on longer day hikes so I can take a break and have a place to sit or put my feet up. Minimal pack space needed, and at only a pound it's not bad.

I have a eno double nest too. Only slept in it a couple times but I loving having it to lounge around in. I prefer the tent most of the time unless it is really nice out. I even set it up inside a leanto in the ADKs one time. It was bear country so I felt like a hanging meat bag the whole time.

Ended up buying my GF one so she would stop climbing into mine.
