if you are just hitting gravel roads drive down a little farther and ill go with you to wise mans view in linville falls, I think its like 6 miles one way on forest roads to a 500 yard paved walk with a great view!

 

I gave him full maps. I camp there.

Nice. My wife graduated from UNC law last year.

 

Since talking about that area, Over Turkey weekend the kids are going to grandma's and me and the wife are planning on jumping in the Taco and headed to either, Boone, asheville, somewere around Jefferson County (anywere really around there will work). Anyone know any good companies with small cabins (just two of us, so really small good) or hidden gems just something quite, not luxurious , does not need to be anywere really near big towns or anything.

 

Just get me out of Wilmington!

There actully alot out ther, due to we want small, and only one bedroom, just dont know which best area to go

 

Boone/Blowing Rock is nice. Get a Bison burger and a pint at Blowing Rock Brewery & Inn, Our Daily Bread is a fantastic sandwich shop, Lost Province has great pizza and decent beer. Check out Elk Knob State Park in Todd off Meat Camp Rd for a cool out-and-back hike. And there's tons of cool places to hike off the BRP, make sure to see the viaduct.

 

You can camp in my barracks parking lot.. I'll even give you a key to my room so you can use the shower. The light doesnt work in the bathroom though, so... theres that.
