Would the old emu coils 885 with bilstein 5100s set at .85 be too high in the front? I'm also considering AAL in the rear. I have 265x65x17

 

285/70/17 level kit up front with 2" block in back. No rubbing. Just removed mudflaps

 

^^ how did you level your truck in the front?

 

Nice truck...mine is very similar with the exception of different tires and a 3" in front and 2" in back.

 

Trying to figure out what setting to use on 5100 .85 or the next one with stock coils?? I have 265/70/16 now.

 

2.5 spacer in front and I have no complaints about ride. Going with air bags in rear for towing tent trailer and hauling gear. Off road for hunting,fishing and camping. No wheeling except snow or what I get into from above hobbies. 265/75/16 with only very slight rub in reverse on stop with turning on mud flaps.

 

So what did you ultimately go with? And what are the specs on your wheels? Width, back spacing?

Like Fitz235 has said that would be a false statement. I could be wrong but there is no truck manufacturer out there with a tow package that will come leveled out the gate. The only one I could think of would be the ford raptor. This is due for when you do put weight on your truck via the tow package it compensates for already having rake. Like I said I could be wrong but from my experience with trucks with towing packeges unless you order it with a leveling kit will alway/most likely have a rake to it for the reason stated already.

Like I said majority of trucks come factory with a rake for hauling. The trucks you are speaking of are a special edition type of truck so therefore would not fall under my statement and would come with a different suspension! And yes you are correct and I will give a cookie the PRO models have a completely different suspension than any of the other trd models because it is built for a specialty and I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong the front suspension has completely different springs than the regular trd/trd sport and the trd off-road so yes that one is leveled and might even be raised a little all together. And I also said the raptor might be leveled from factory but wasn't sure because it is made for the baja type style stuff. I was speaking of the trucks that majority of us get and the original post I was backing up was about an off-road so no it doesn't come factory level unless you order it with a leveling kit. Does this satisfy you?

 

So therefore unless you do buy the "baja" or the "trd pro" with or without the tow package will not come factory leveled.

 

So I did the 2.5 leveling kit with 1" blocks in the back. It is still nose high but just enough to notice. I would like to remove all that and go with 5100 front and rear. Will I need something else to raise the rear?

 

Is your plan on removing the spacer and replace with lift springs or leave it as is? Either way you are alright the way you are with just switching to 5100's all around. The rears I believe are good up to 1.5-2" and you only have a 1" block of lift and make sure to put the fronts at the lowest settings if you plan on keeping the spacers but if you plan on taking out the spacers then set the fronts to 2.5 setting. Last note if you do decide to go the lift spring route it would be the same concept to set the 5100's at the lowest setting. Hope this makes sense and helpful.

 

I am wanting to remove the spacer set up and go with new shocks. I do not want a "lift" per say. I just want level and if new/better shocks and struts are part of that then I am good with that. Thanks for your help.

 

Well are you for sure Toyota made your truck then? Because from your point of view there is a 1% chance that they didn't. And honestly I had forgotten about the trd pro because it hasn't always been around. So if you do take the baja and the pro out of the equation then yes no manufacturer makes a truck that is leveled from the line unless it is a special edition or you order it that way. And I threw in the raptor as a reference because I wasn't for sure like I said because of the use of the truck and what it is made for as being the only one that "may" be the only one that would be set up that way from the factory. And let's do us all a favor and get the thread back on topic for the other viewers and go give your beloved trd pro a hug for me for being "leveled" because it has a totally different suspension than the rest of the Tacoma line.

 

IMHO I would look into lift springs i.e., OME SPRINGS, along with the 5100 shocks up front set at the lowest setting for your lift. You would have to do some research on which one would give you the amount of lift you want or ask someone on here or even call wheelers for advice. I have OME 884 paired with the 5100 shocks with the trim packer or spacer on the driver side and my truck is leveled but yours would be different due to you having the rear raised an inch. Lifting your truck with springs instead of using the shock will give you a better ride because it is not compressing the spring to achieve the lift. It's a little more but not much more but you will be happy you did it right the first time. I did the whole lift by shock at first and wasn't happy with the ride and I am completely satisfied with the setup now. Rides better than stock IMO and I have heard this from others on here as well. Glad I could be of some help.

 

And if you have the dough to do it you could also get rid of the block and put on an add a leaf aka AAL to achieve the lift in the rear. Not only would it lift the rear but also add some more load capacity I believe but that isn't my expertise. There is a guy on here that goes by Oz I think and he is pretty smart on the matter and has answered a ton of questions for people in your shoes and he seems to enjoy helping out with info.
