Grill removal

Black Sprayed grill looks way better, surprised a company like Ford offers so many variations of a grill on the new F-150 including Black & Toyota does not.
Interested in how it holds up with the plastidip spray , was kind of thinking of having mine sprayed with LineX? (When I get my '16)

 

The plasti dip holds up great I use it on all kinds of stuff. The beauty of it is, that when it starts to look like shit you can peel it off and re spray. It looks like a factory grill vs spray paint that would look like hot garbage

 

I used Krylon Fusion black to paint my center wheel covers on my '06 TRD Offroad. That held up great and looked real good too.

 

Plasti dipped my daughters Corolla rims. Lasted 3 Minnesota winters without coming off

plastidip holds up pretty well if you do it properly.
I used it on my front grill it still looks the same 3 years after.
Just need to make sure to do a proper good even coating and a few layers

 

LineX would probably be bullet proof if you prepped right.

 

Did you take the grill assembly apart to dip it as separate pieces? or just dip it as one piece like you show in your first photo?

 

Looks like he just removed the grill assembly as once part. Also, I don't think he dipped the assembly in plasti-dip, he most likely used the spray can variant.

 

Everyone uses the spray route for the record.

 

Just clarifying it, not everyone is familiar with plasti-dip. The name itself is misleading.

There's a matte black you can buy them just put a clear coat they make to give it shine. I dipped the factory alloys matte black and the side badge.

 

How many cans did you use on the wheels

 

I removed the assembly and and the bezel and sprayed them seperate then re installed it

 

Nice that must have made for cleaner edges it looks great

 

What did you use to clean the grill and trim before dipping as I assume it's plastic?

 

Used 3 cans for the whole job. Light coats every 15 minutes. Did about 10 light coats. It's a job that requires patience more than skill.
