Lol, cry me a river lady in blue on CBC. I don't care how much "quality" work you think your MPs were doing, obviously Canada was smart enough not to buy into Mulcairs plans.

Well there is a good chance Mulcair isn't even going to win his seat. So at least that could take care of itself for them.

There are hints that if Harper resigns Calgary's mayor might run for his seat.

You all are joking right? You elected another Trudeau? The first one wasn't bad enough? I guess the US has to elect another Bush or Clinton to prove we can keep up with you. Politics aside, I believe in solutions, and not re-electing problems.

Considering your likely options for the next US president I'd suggest you should concentrate on your own problems.

Re-electing problems would be re-electing Harper. Re-electing Harper for a 4th term would have been about as stupid as electing bush for a second term. A last name is just that, a last name. Trudeau promises change in the same way that Obama promised change to America. Only time will tell if it's "Real change".

Pretty amazing election results given what all the polls were predicting

Maybe I don't follow American politics closely enough and that is probably for good reason considering how much of a joke their coming election is. But I do think that Obama has made good changes that have benefited America.

As an aside it sounds like Harper will step down but stay sitting in the house of commons. If he does that I'm sure a lot of Canadians will respect him for not forcing another sour grapes bi election.

Harper and Obama did not get along, Chretian and Bush did not get along, maybe Trudeau and Clinton will get along...

Sorry guys, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, or get involved in a left v right debate. However I sometimes get tired of the same old familial names in politics, whether in Canada, USA, Kenya or North Korea. Nepotism at its worst.

Just glad he is gone... and it sounds like he is taking some of his Ministers with him, wonder how much money he spent to lose and how much the Australian Election expert cost him??

He doesn't need to be gone completely. As others have said, Canada wanted and needed a change. That's happened. The PC's need to earn back some trust but turfing everyone isn't going to help them. Look at how long it took the Liberals to come back after they turfed Martin and Chretien's factions. An evolutionary, rather revolutionary change, will lead to proper necessary opposition to the Liberals.

I like the fact that he had the kahunas to take on the NRA and Big Oil...

He has done a lot of stuff for the American people that goes un-noticed because of his stand on the environment and gun ownership...
