    I'm not a fan of those or alot of the LED hood lights on the market...they just seem too bright for under hood work, every time you look up you're blinded. As said above, i'd rather have a well lit garage. I get it I get it, on the road or trail you don't have that, but I'll get some magnetic ones to hang on the hood that won't blind in me in the middle of the night

    when u apply strips just behind the rubber seal of the hood, it keeps the light out of ur eyes, and then another strip along the curve of the underside of hood, it again isn't in ur eyes, yet lights up the engine bay.

    I actually carry a pair of HF rechargeable magnetic ones on the trail when camping. Works great for lights at camp or repairs on the trail.

    Edit: last trail repair was a blown driveshaft u-joint. Under hood lights would not have helped.

    the arrows on the sides show where the old brackets used to be i cut them flush and made new brackets that are basically the way the actual tacoma heat exchanger is mounted, the tabs on the top you can see from the angle in the pictue but from the side view its a corner so the tab is stronger and weld them to the top and they stick outfrom the front a bit but flush with the back, from the front they look like triangles with a small strip extending out of the top of it and mounted with the stock bolts, on the bottom it looks like a "U" welded upside down to the bottom of each bottom corners and inside there is a rubber bushing in each one with a cutout in them that is a little offset so the heat exchanger has a little clearance between it and the ac condenser, i work in a truck shop so i cut strips of black rubber mudflap and ran it along one side andbetween the fram and the heat exchanger then rolled it up a couple times and tucked it in to make it a little springy this is just temporary because im sure that rubber is going to crack its too soft i found bocks of rubber that i can cut on ebay pretty cheap 15 buck for like a 4x6x1in block they are called jewelers blocks, i had to relocate the horns because on the tacoma one the pipe for the coolant hose comes directly out of the side but on the fj they come out the front and bend but out comes out directly where the right horn is so i just put them both on the other side of the hood bracket and pulled them out a bit by hand to give it a little clearance between it and the heat exchanger had to add some wire to make the connectors reach the horns

    i have the electronic brake booster so the coolant reservoir bolts right to that with the bracket thats provided in the main kit i also bought the hood support bracket from someone on here so i didnt have to mess with modding the old one but i heard its not that hard and i made some wires longer on the harness for the coolant pump (two wires that go to the fuse box and the two wires that go to the coolant pump) and thats basically it

    my dad works in a machine shop so i got him to tig weld it there and i measure and welded the brackets for the heat exchanger in steps to make sure it didnt get welded in the wrong position and thank god because i realized later that i had to trim a bit away to clear the frame and i also measured the hols little to far apart at first lol that woulda sucked balls

    so there you go for anyone who is feeling up to it thats all you have to do to make the fj cruiser fit kit work for a tacoma also if you have a vacuum brake booster i think your gonna have to make a braket yourself for the coolant reservoir but you would have to figure that one out i luckily had atrac and im prety sure there is stil a fjcruiser full kit on ebay if anyone is interester i think it was like 4700

    They did unbelievable. Spotless and clean. Cant find a thing wrong. I had same quotes as you. I laughed at them all. Then this one dealer I sent an email to said he would do for 600. I thought it was a trick or joke. But it wasn't. Had to pay $50 more for incidentals but they asked me first. Can't believe I got lucky. But still wanted to do myself. But now that it's done I'm happy. No leaks so far. But I'll keep checking. Thanks for the heads up.

    Yea theres people selling them with and without fit kit for 5500-6500. Ridiculous. Give it 6 months and I bet magnuson will have a CARB approved SC for the 4.0s.

    Better spray this around...

    Finished my truck up after having to travel for work for a month.... Drove it around for the first time, put a couple of miles on it checked for leaks and let it run and then took it to my brother's house. He tunes Supra's on the side, we hooked up his wide band OBD-2 and took it out to see where it was at.

    Made about 10 different pulls, most in 3rd gear, some in 4th, AFR was pegged at 11.1 each time.... This is a 2015 DCSB 4x4 V6 auto with 535 miles, 100% as is from the factory(no ecu flash) with a TRD supercharger installed by me.

    Figured this would be interesting info for all those worried about driving to the dealer before getting their ecu flashed

    Funny you mention the forthcoming Magnuson SC for the 4.0. I spoke with the guys at LC Engineering last week. They expect the first batch shortly after the first of the year. My name is on the pre-order list.

    Yep, I mentioned that earlier though sounds like the time table has slipped slightly as they previously were expecting before year end.

    @Canks

    Do you plan to get the ECU reflashed for the blower program still? It sounds like it's almost kosher w/o it.
