Those of us who are old enough can remember this same cry about GM and others catching up to Toyota. It is repeated ever 5-10 years followed by an acceptance that well, Toyota did build better cars.....but we have caught up to them.....then five years later, well! Toyota did build better cars, but we have caught up to them.....then 5-10 years later; well........
Does anyone see a pattern here ?,

I would be shocked if it did. The Volt is touted as a series hybrid with a "range extender" gas motor when in reality, it is a parallel hybrid, just like the plug in Prius. The gas motor comes on, not just to supply charge, but to help drive the car at higher speeds through a planetary gear set, just like the Prius. It has a bigger battery and can go longer on battery alone.it just isn't anything special technologically. GM still lies about the car. A fine running car indeed....but still, a Pruis chaser.

Got smoked. Hahahaha yeah right. You see how close the specs are. In 10 years the Colorado will be worth a fraction and the Tacoma still be worth 2/3 of it's original value. I don't see any longivity test predictions. Just something to think about.

Well that, and the frontier actually has better ratings than the 2nd gen tacoma...at least according to consumer reports.

You get chevy delco or Delphi with Chevy. My 2015 Z06 has a radio I've been in for several times for and don't talk about chevy truck quality
vs Toyota's Colorado or not it's still a Chevy!

Well, I have owned a number of Toyotas....We have a Sienna AWD right now. One of the biggest F ups from any car company I have experienced is going on with my Seinna. They put flat-run tires on an all-wheel drive minivan, LOL. We are having to replace all the tires for a second time with only 34k miles on the van. Guess how much flat run tires for a Sienna are, $1800! And they are hard to find, you pretty much have to go through Toyota. A 32k family car and they put flat-runs like it's a 7 series BMW....thanks an F'n lot Toyota.

I'm not saying Toyota's aren't quality, but you have to be realistic...the resale value of the new Tacoma is yet to be seen...the resale value of the past Tacoma is ridiculous...it can't stay like that forever.

This notion that Toyota is the only manufacture that can build a reliable truck/car is none-sense. Ford and GM certainly have had their problems, but they have also build some incredible trucks and cars over the decades.

What's eye opening is when you drive a 4R (still made in Japan, the same factory since '84), and then a 3rd Gen....if you had a blindfold on you would guess they are from two different car companies..... my point there is that one Toyota is not every Toyota.. I wouldn't get caught up thinking that as long as it has "Toyota" stamped on it, you're good to go.

That post of his made no sense. Like did all 4 tires ran flat at the same time? Maybe it's the "in" thing to do by driving around inside a nail factory

Mainly user neglect. Tires need to be regularly rotated especially on AWD vehicles.

Every 100 miles you drive on a differential with 1" different sized tires is 10,000 miles worth of wear on a differential. It's not a hard concept to understand.

Trust me, there is no user neglect. My wife, a 43 yo mom of three kids, drives the van around town daily....like most "soccer moms" do. She's not burning rubber. And she takes it for regular maintenance (to the dealer) like clockwork. It's about 2.5 years old and this is the second set of tires we need.

My point is that minivans in general burn through tires....add AWD and it's even worse....so why put expensive ass run-flats on it?! It's not so much that I mind buying new tires, as much as I mind being forced to buy $2,000 tires every year and half. We had a 2008 Sienna AWD that did not have run-flats...tires lasted longer...same type of driving, etc... no problems. This is a big Toyota F' up, imo. I read people on the internet complaining about the cost of run-flats, and the problems, on their 7 Series BMW....well, you have a 100k car (which doesn't make it right) but I have a 32k family van....I'm gonna wind up spending more money on tires than the price of the car. lol

Yea, that thing is sick....I'd love to see a Sienna get some of the features of the 4R (bigger tires, clearance, suspension..) would be bad-ass.

Believe me, I feel very ripped off. I called a bunch of tire places and they all said they do not stock the tires and would have to special order them, their price wasn't as high as Toyota's, but none of them could tell me how long it would take to get them, and they only estimated the price.

The services reps at Toyota were understanding at first, then became real pricks out bit....as dealers do. So $1800+ for tires and alignment (which they insisted it needed).

Anyway, my rant about the Sienna AWD really has little to do with the 3rd Gen Taco. It's just an example that Toyota is not the all mighty, can do no wrong, manufacturer some people claim. Bottom-line, I wouldn't buy one of their new trucks/cars simply because the old model was good.
