Thanks! Another stupid question... does it require regular cleaning, or can I just put it in and leave it for 100k miles? (I've been looking forward to the increased performance and the fact that it will let my Taco breath... I didn't think of the details.)

    Thanks again!

you"ve gotta clean it when it gets dirty. the difference is, instead of throwing the filter away and replacing it, now you clean and reinstall it with this filter.

Glad you all are getting your invoices. I basically raised heck with Oscar at Flowsource.net and my direct contact at AFE regarding the lack of communication.

They had placed the order (Had to manufacture the filters) over a week ago, but wanted to wait until they were physically made before invoicing us. It was just poor communication on their part.

Anyone who should have received an invoice, but has not yet gotten one, please let me know.

Let us know when your order comes in!

thanks mceagle555. I just got in on the deal yesterday and tonight I paid my invoice. So do I rip out the secondary filter now? I've been holding off, but I may have to do it now.

Don't even wait for the aFe filter to arrive. It only takes a few minutes to take it out. One of your first thoughts while driving with the secondary filter gone will be. "Why didn't I do this sooner?"

Even easier... but a little riskier... do what I did:

Get a flat-head screwdriver and wedge it up under the edge of the filter. Pry it back far enough that you can get your fingers behind the filter and start pulling. Move your fingers around so that you're pulling right at the points of contact (6 of them) and they'll pop off.

DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHECK that there are no pieces in the intake. I had a vacuum on hand to make sure I got everything out.

It took me 5 minutes start to finish. I was a little nervous the first several miles I drove, but it's been 1k+ miles now and no problems.

And now, to keep it on topic... I can't wait for my new AFE air filter!

I just did it! I used the screw driver and yank method. The 2 upper corners broke off but I got everything out OK. Took it for a little spin and it seemed to run a bit better, least it felt that way.
