ok for those with auto throw it in neutral not park it wont work you'll snap the parking gear and keep going! neutral and turn the key off .In neutral the key wont turn all the way off so u will have steering and brakes without destroying the tranny or truck I have an 06 and never had a problem.

That exactly I did. I was driving at 35-40 mph and I press the gas pedal to past the front car when suddenly the Tacoma started accelerating without control even I press the brakes pedal. NO floor mats was involved. It's like my gas pedal got stuck but not by the floor mat. TOYOTA blame the floor mat but that's a BS. I believe it's the gas pedal sensor or mechanism with the computer. It is a scare moment of your life. So be careful out there with our Tacoma's.

You can kill the engine if you don't turn off because it going to over revolution the engine.

The crash that started all this panic was a Lexus with smart key and I never knew you had to hold the start button for 3 seconds to shut down nor ever even thought about it.
The transmission is electonic like my Camry which I know when I do sequencial shifting will beep at me if it doesn't like my speed when I try and down shift.
What I don't know or care to try is to throw it into neutral at full throttle.
I'm thinking it won't but I'm not doing it with my car to find out.
There is a possibility that these two factors amplified the panic situation of the driver such that he didn't think to look at his feet and see the mat causing all of this.
I once had a flip flop come off and jam the gas on but figured it out pretty quickly.
Wonder what Toyota would do to fix the flip-flop issue.

I've no doubt that it will on my Tacoma but the Camry is a completely different Trans.
You have personally tried this on a Camry 6 speed Auto?

I asked the stealership the last time i took my truck in and they said the fix is to throw the floor mat in the back and not get in with dirty shoes.. This was from the service department manager.
