wow man, why so defensive? i have always liked tacomas.... love 4Rs... i'm just not going to be so delusional as to dismiss every other brand... so far i think 'yota dropped the ball on the 3rd gen...does that mean it's a bad truck? hell no... i just don't think it caught the competition this time.

Yes, you are right... GM sells more trucks then anyone in the US. There are a lot of unwarranted/uneducated comments flying around this thread. I get that it's a Tacoma forum, but it's childish not to debate on the merits.

Hmmm, I thought we were talking about one brand "Silverado" but I guess not. See how things are manipulated there. The F150 has had a very bad year for production. GM is having a good year. Then again, Silverado's reliability for 2014 was terrible. It'll be interesting to see how things continue.

Lol, so I'm delusional because I dislike GM. If you go back I said I would buy one if they had a model that mad me want to own one. They don't.

I work at a Chevy dealer and I must admit the new Silverado is a very nice truck. It's been dependable so far and the customers seem to like it. If I had been in the market for a full size, I might have bought one over the Tundra.

Whichever one the dealer makes the most money on. Then GM can stick around a few more years before another bailout.

Way to quote those two quotes backwards lol. I compared just the Silverado to just the F150. Right or wrong in regards to amalgamated sales that was my statement, which is correct. As is the reason why Ford is not selling as many trucks this year. The first month of at capacity production for Ford was.... August 2015....

Look, if you want to be serious let's step back to my first statement. I don't like GM vehicles. I've owned GM vehicles. They were not flat out disasters but they weren't great either. Yes, my Alero left me stranded. Yes, I've blown a 327 engined Sierra and most of the rest of the truck out before 200K miles. Yes, my family used to work for GM and the fact the company not only mistreated them during their employment but also took money, IMHO, from the Canadian government under false intentions bugs me. All of those factors together make it very unlikely I will buy into GM again unless they do something truly revolutionary, which right now I am not seeing.

My heads starting to hurt. lol. You are all over the place. I (me, not you) made the comment that the Silverado is the 2nd best selling vehicle in the US, behind F150. I made that comment to make the point (albeit, sarcastically) that GM (maker of Silverado) must be doing something right. You then quoted my comment, and said "#2 for a reason"....which to me sounded like you completely missed my point.

You are entitled to not like GM....just be fair about it.

I do believe that it is a classification of the best selling "Full-sized" truck. The Tacoma is a top seller, but it is a mid-sized truck. And the Tundra is still climbing I believe.

No, to be clear, that is overall vehicle sales...including cars, etc. I was surprised, the top three best selling vehicles overall in the US are F150, Silverado, Ram...in that order... it took until 4 for a car to make the list. The Camry is like 8 or something.

To be honest, it had nothing to do with me going alone. I actually LOVED working at the dealerships. I would have stayed, but after my divorce and moving in with my sister to help take care of our mom who was sick, I couldn't see driving an hour and a half to the nearest GM dealer for a job. I needed to stay in town. So opening my own shop was the best option at the time. While I don't regret it for a second, if I was forced to go back to work for someone else, I would go to a GM dealer in a second.

@MikeD72 I was going to PM you this but I'd love to hear the answer in public. Since you are accusing me of fanboyism towards either Ford or Toyota, which seems to change depending on what you are trying to prove, exactly what do you own and why are you on this forum?

I own a 2014 Ram 2500 (actually a lease through work to be specific, but I drive it both for personal and business reasons), a 2015 F150 (wifes daily driver), and a 2013 Toyota Tacoma (my fun personal daily driver). I'm on here because I love my Tacoma for it's OR performance and this site is by far the best source for DIY information which saves me money. It also allows me to interact with other Toyota truck owners with more experience than me, which is something I truly enjoy.

I have bought a car from GM, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Crysler/Ram/Dodge, and Mitsubishi all within the last 10 years. I buy my cars based on merit and needs at the time of sale. While I do not intend to keep up my buying pace because it's a waste of money, I've had a car or truck from a large selection of manufacturers and dealers all fairly recently with various mileages. Usually when something was traded off it was because it was a problem. Sometimes it was just a life change. I also have friends, family, and customers that work for Toyota, Ram, Ford, GM, and Subaru. I also work for a business that is too small to have a full time operations manager so I share responsibilities that include vehicle fleet management and acquisition which allows me to see true discount pricing as well as performance benchmarks for reliability and mpg across a large selection of vehicles in sometimes difficult working positions.

When I share my experiences on here it's because I feel my experience adds something to the conversation. Not everything I say is taken from cars.com or Wikipedia willy nilly to try and prove a point with "facts" that are written from biased and often unreferenced sources. If you disagree with me that's you right, and there is definitely some opinion based comments any time you discuss trucks or other vehicles that should always lead to some form of disagreement, but don't for one second try to tell me I know nothing about why to or not to buy a vehicle. I won't be buying a GM truck anytime soon, and it's because a vast pool of real life experience and information tells me it would be a terrible idea.

From what I can tell you don't own a Tacoma, you won't likely buy a Tacoma, and you really aren't here to learn anything about the Tacoma. So why are you here?

I respect that you and your family don't like GM, but don't for a second think that Ford treats their employees any better. They don't. I also get that your GM products were unreliable, and evidently you have a Ford that was great. But here is the thing, and this is 100% fact: For every person like you who has had GM products that sucked, and Fords that were great, I can show you a person who had Ford products that sucked, and GM products that were great. It's called mass production. If you build 1 million of anything, you are GOING to have some bad apples. That is just the world of automobiles.

When I went independent and opened my own shop I had an equal number of pretty much every manufacturer when it comes to say the top 20. They ALL break. I have had Ford diesels with blown turbocharges and clogged EGR pipes, and I have had GM trucks with lifter tap and bad camshafts. It happens.

I can't keep doing this all day, it's ridiculous. First, you are not the only guy that has owned a lot of cars, man...we are all sharing experiences, are you for real with that statement, lol!?! Second, I haven't accused you of sh!t. Third, I am on the forum because I f'n wanna be.

    Now whose upset?

BTW I never said I'm the only one who has owned a lot of cars, or even the only one who has fleet operations experience, but your suggestions that my bias is coming out of my ass was unfounded.

I am a huge Toyota supporter and even I test drove the Canyon after selling my 15 Tacoma, before putting my deposit down on my 16 Tacoma.

I looked a Colorados before buying my 15. People SHOULD take a serious look at the competition to ensure one made the right decision for themselves.
