As original owner of a 2nd gen 2005 Tacoma and 290k miles later, I feel I might be one of the few who will actually keep their vehicles for a long time. A lot of peps here trade in every 3-4 years. I plan on keeping the 3rd gen as long as my 2nd gen. Anybody else?

When I purchase one (this year) I will most likely keep it 8-10 years. I just sold my 06 Tacoma. When I am ready I will ditch/trade the 09 Ram.

Probably will be the last car I buy that isn't self driving.

1 year. I'm waiting for the next generation 2017 Ford Raptor to be released, although I might hold out until the 2018 model year to see if rumors of a 5.0 - 5.2 liter twin turbo V8 powered Raptor prove to be accurate.

Plan on driving it for 5 years then give to my son. As long as he doesn't tear it up to much I want to keep as a toy and deer lease truck for as long as it will last.

My current vehicle is a 99 Tacoma with 200k miles on it. I will probably be keeping my 2016 for 10-15 years and similar mileage.

I purchased mine, so I will have it for the next 10 years and beyond. Will probably buy another new one in a few years when the style changes and it drives itself!

Until I get a flat tire, then I'm trading it in because I don't know how to change a tire. #typical3rdGenOwner

Seems sarcastic remarks for some threads in the norm.
Sorry if I added to the list of off remarks.

imo, most buy a vehicle thinking they will keep it X years. Some like new vehicles sooner than later. Some keep vehicles for many years. How long someone keeps a vehicle depends on how dependable the vehicle is, financial situation, etc.

When I was younger I got rid of vehicles every 3-4 years and financed them. As I got older I paid off the vehicle, kept it long enough to make payments to myself. Now I pay cash for a new vehicle or 1 or 2 payments if financing gets a lower price for me. Bottom line I save so I can pay cash when I am ready. It makes little sense to me to pay interest on a depreciating asset.

So when I get a 2016 this year, I expect to keep it 8-10 years. That is if no major issues with the truck pops up.

I have always been bad about wanting a new vehicle after a couple years. Hoping to change that trend and keep this one 10+ years.

At least until they downsize the 3.5 to the Yaris 1.5 for gen 3.5, then I'll be buying that one.
