yea i get off the boat at 5 am sat morning and have to work the open house right after haha, also if you do want to go, they are bussing people in to Ft. Johnson for it. should be a good time. at least on our side haha. we're planning on having some cold beverages to enjoy during the day ...

We try and go camping up there every chance we get! i assume yall are talking about wheeling and camping right? i have a pre-runner, but i hear momentum is better than 4-wheel drive

 

I was going to suggest parking close to the gate and walking too. haha yea we see a good many black gill cases on there, but we're not technically targeting shrimp. and yea we love our beverages! we usually have some sort of kegger afterwards just to chill out.

 

yea im not sure what the deal is with that property. and no, they wont be selling any beverages, but i seriously doubt anybody would care if you had a solocup or whatever your receptacle of choice filled with whatever. everyones pretty chill around here. we've caught more tiger shrimp in the past 3 weeks than ive seen caught on this boat in the 2 years ive been on there. i hear they taste like lobsta! i wouldnt know... im allergic to crustaceans.

 

haha i wouldnt say a lot. just a lot compared to previous years. the past three weeks has seen about 4 if i recall correctly. before that, ive seen 1 in the past couple of years. we normally sample within sight of land though. we get to see some wicked cool shit though! huge sharks, rays, turtles, etc etc.

 

Yep! those are the right names. yea we catch a good many of the smaller species of mantis shrimp, but there are some pretty large ones that can do some damage. we had one in the net that we're assuming was regurgitated from a large tarpon. the tarpon left huge scales, and a partially digested Lysiosquilla scabricauda ( google that bastard). i kept the scale and we had to toss the mantis back over because he started to stink. and they have hammers they can swing with some good force.

 

Yep. i absolutely love being out there doing what i do.

 

going down with alvin or one of those deep sea subs is my dream! i want to see some crazy scary creatures in their own elements. so much cool stuff swimming around out there.
