    We are supposed to get a backstory episode of Morgan this season. I would assume it would highlight how/where he learned to fight. Maybe he took up sanctuary with a cheesemaker before, or more likely after, his son died. I don't remember the stick when he and Rick met for the 2nd time so it would probably actually be after that part of his story, where his son was already gone.
