I'm considering going with a slightly newer Tacoma. Mine is lifted with 32" tires and is Radiant Red, and I've somewhat lost interest in how attention grabbing it is, and I don't care for the lift and large tires for commuting anymore (I know I could get a commuter car but why pay insurance on 2 vehicles?)

I'm considering trading it in for this:

    http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/650344741/overview/

It's a 2011 TRD Sport in black. It has only 15,000 miles.

They offered me 15,000 for my trade in (my 2006 Tacoma with 70,000 miles on it)
The also lowered the price to 25,000 even

I'm not sure what interest rate yet. I have to go back to speak with the financing guy. I did put a $500 refundable deposit down on it that way I can take the paperwork home and go over it some more.

What do you think? good deal or crappy deal?

and yes, the tonnau cover has shrunk and will not close, and the bumper has a dent in it...

Maybe line up your own financing with a credit union first so you know going in?

What's the frame look like? Price seems a little high even for such low miles. I would point out the flaws on the 2011 and grind them lower on the price. If they won't move I'd walk. You could probably get more for your 70kmiles '06 selling it privately as well.

One can never have too many light bars.
You could probably get a much bigger chunk of change if you sold the 07 yourself.

I have only 17500 miles on my 2011 OR Dbl Cab. I just had it in for some minor service and the sales people came over and were just about willing to commit sex acts to get me to trade. I have no intention of selling/trading so I did not get a number, but would never trade as I have had very good luck with Craig's List. I think it shows that low mileage Tacomas are much in demand so the price the dealer wants from the OP maybe a reflection of that.

I would keep the 07. You would be paying 10k more for the same truck you already have in a different color. If it was a certified from a Toyota dealer then it would be a little better deal. IMO if you aren't going to get a 2012 or newer with the different styling and a few audio/visual features then I wouldn't waste my time. I just got my 2013 41k TRDSp for $26k out the door with 100k warranty. I am sure you can find something better or just hold on to your truck.

Edit: Technically you would be paying about 12k more once fees and taxes are added.

I bought my 15 dc sport for 28ish. I don't think it's a very good deal. With only 70k on your truck I don't see a reason to upgrade.

That dealer is licking his chops to get you're truck for 15 and sell you an 11 for 25. They are gonna get close to 6k in profit on those two transactions.

Hmm well I'm reading the paperwork and I'm worried that they lied about giving me my deposit back. According to the back:

"Unless this agreement is non-binding because you are arranging credit for me, I understand that the cash deposit I have given to you can be retained, in accordance with your refund policy, to offset your damages if I refuse to complete my purchase. I also understand that I may be responsible for any other damages which you may incur as a result of my failure to preform my obligations under the terms of this agreement"

Hope they don't pull a fast one on me.

After looking at your 06 I definitely think you're nuts. Grass is always greener. Get your 500 back and put it in the gas tank and drive that thing another 130k.:notsure:

I know, It's a great looking truck, which is kinda why I want to get rid of it. Maybe I'm crazy but I don't like the attention it gets anymore. I'd rather have a black truck that isn't lifted.

Maybe I should consider trading it in for the 2016 instead.

I would check several dealers if thats the case, see who will give you the best deal. Not sure I understand the whole attention thing though. In your case Attention = frugal, trading = $$$$$$

Forget the 16 if your not looking for attention. @Capt Jrod has the right idea. Go back to stock. Plus you know your truck. That new to me probably was not taken care of like yours is.

I just bought my 07 AC TRD OR w/ 72k miles on it for $17k a few months ago and that was a steal out here. Sell it yourself!

When I walked into the dealer I asked for 18k for my truck. The best they were able to offer to me was 15k, and they wouldn't budge. They wouldn't budge because my truck does have an accident on it's carfax, leaking headlights from my half-ass BHLM, fading paint, no TPMS sensors, and it also has the service engine soon light up because its currently failing emissions due to it's catalytic converters being bad after I destroyed them with an un-calibrated URD MAF, which left 3 years of failed emissions tests on the cafax. I also did a lot of drilling through the truck, 3 antenna's mounted through the roof, ham radios mounted to the dash, microphone clips screwed directly into the dash board. Also my frame is rusty and my interior is stained and has cigarette burns on the carpet and door. Chances are they'd have to wholesale my truck.

The deciding factor for me on not going with the 2011 was the fact that there are deep scratches all throughout the front and side of the trucks body... which look like were caused by driving off road. The rear bumper is also pretty smashed in. All of that body damage within 15,000 miles sounds pretty fishy to me. If it was a lease, chances are that truck was beat to shit. On top of that, I know Toyota Tacoma engines have a clicking sound you can hear, but this one had a slightly more noticeable clicking than mine does.

If the 2011's body was in pristine condition, then maybe I would have gone with it... and since my truck, although it has low-ish miles, does have a lot of problems, I considered the trade in price.

    Anybody think otherwise now?

In that case, I'd take the $15k and run! I'm not sure the hassle of selling it yourself would be worth the little extra you might be able to squeeze out of it with all that needs to be fixed. Mine was in amazing shape owned by a 91 yr old man. Either way, you'll get a decent amount for your truck. Good luck on finding that perfect truck for you!
