    Question for you shock gurus.

I have a pair of 2.5x10 King coil overs I bought off a guy on RDC. I released all the nitrogen and removed the coils so I could collapse the shock and store them till I start my front install. One collapses fine, but the other hits some kinda gap or pocket of nitrogen. And keeps the shaft from staying compressed. I tried a buncha times to bleed everything out the revisor but it's like the shock body and the resi have a blockage.

I was going to rebuild them with a seal kit already but was wondering if you guys have run across a similar issue and what it ended up being. See if there's any other parts I might need to anticipate picking up as well.

If the shaft keeps extending itself back out, sounds like you have nitrogen leaking into the oil side, if that's the case, SLOWLY unscrew the hose to bleed off the pressure, then rebuild them.

I had them on my truck, it vibed pretty bad when first installed. If you put them on a stock truck, it rattles really bad. But if you don't have a stock bumper/grille/fenders/etc you won't notice it. I swapped them out for a better designed mount that use's a 2" bushing, stopped most of the vibes. The Trail gear style still leaves the stock perch to rip off the frame also.

So turns out uniballs last a lot longer if you don't use lube. I wash mine with soap/water and then dry them out with compressed air. These ones have already outlasted the previous ones. If the squeak is absolutely killing you, throw a couple drops of lube on it and then wipe/air compress off the excess. Also, don't throw a waterproof cover on your uppers, it causes them to rust out due to the water not being able to evaporate. Shred on.

Yeah that's exactly what's happening. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll tear into these in a week or so. Wanna finish my truck interior just swapped to a cluster with tach and I wanna do a single din radio with the 6 switch plate while everything is apart.

Also since it's happened already, is it prone to happen again?

Not really, just happens when the seal on the dividing piston in the resi goes bad. Make sure you clean the resi out good on assembly

I'd try any where from a 12-15 ish on compression and .008 on rebound. Really depends on what you're doing with the truck

My rear king smoothies did this twice. Second time I douched out the resi real good and made sure to lube the resi float piston seal good on re insertion. Be vewy carful unscrewing that resi hose from the shock to release the pressure...I got my garage covered once from getting cocky and twisting just a little to far

Shocks have been good for 6 months now since last rebuild

Not off the top of my head. Why do you want to replicate that on your taco? Fyi they are a internal bypass so its a 2.5 body with a sleeve for the bypass holes with a 2.0 piston.

Subjectively speaking...it's easy with the right tools. Just time consuming.
