Got underneath my 2005 trd sport today...I wanted to cry, frame perforation towards rear of frame. Only 59,000 miles on my truck. Still looks brand new. Its only at the rear where the metal is folded over where its sandwiched together. The rest of the frame is Solid. Has anybody had their frame replaced in New Jersey
If so,what dealership? Would a toyota dealer even give me top trade in value with the issue on a new tacoma...Im sick rite now
    Thanks for aby info...

I wonder if you know your Senator or Congressman, both State and Federal. Might be worth a well informed email/letter about how his/her constituent is being treated. I'm in the deep south, so I don't have a dog in this fight, but I know if these Congressmen get enough emails/letters/phone calls re: this problem well, the shit hits the fan.

They willtake it apart and put it back together but they will probably say "x y and z" need replacing because of rust too. Would be a good time to replace the shocks and stuff while they have it apart if you go through with it.

Anytime a big corporation takes advantage of thousands of consumers to the tune of millions of dollars they do it because they can. Their thought process/mind set is: It's not who will let us, it's who will stop us. My background is in the medical industry. The medical industry is a prime example of this corporate mindset. Toyota is very well aware of the problems they have caused their customers by using inferior metal causing excessive rust. As I have said, I don't have a dog in this fight. Also, there must be something going on that I don't understand. Maybe every brand of vehicle on the road, where salt is used, rusts out after a couple of years without extensive maintenance. I'm sure I'm misunderstanding something. Educate me on this.

I'd clean that up, weld and/or bolt a shit ton of 1/4" steel plating and gusseting, and keep on keepin'... But that is just me.

A wire brush and a can of spray paint can save the rest of the frame from the same fate.

DoorDing, the regulatory and legal scrutiny paid the medical industry is staggering. Case in point: When was the last time you watched television without some law firm advertising to solicit clients for a lawsuit against a medical company? Usually it's so big it's a class action law suit. Now, when was the last time you turned on the television and heard one thing about rust on Toyota frames? Either it's a common occurrence or it's not. Maybe it's not. Maybe it is. I do know there was no rust on my 2011 Tacoma, and there's no rust on my current Tacoma. Maybe I just need to be grateful I don't have to worry about rust. I think that's probably the case.

Wouldn't know how much writing your congressman would do. Those guys can't even figure out a working budget (don't mean to expose my opinion on that matter).
But I can definitely feel the frustration here. I got the letter for the recall for rust... took it to the stealership and they "conducted an inspection" (e.g. took a quick peep under) and said it passed. Then of course they shredded my letter.. go figure... I think I saw in another post someone wrote the Corporate Toyota to complain and got results that way...I may be following suit or at least getting more educated on the process to determine what is and constitutes repair. Because my DCSB is pretty rusty from the salt in Utah + Colorado....

I learned the hard way not to trust what 1 dealership tells me. I will never hesitate to call the manufacture or go to other dealerships again. I had a problem with a Subaru Baja. Took it to the dealership. They fed me what seemed like B.S. I called Subaru. Subaru said, "They told you what?!!" Subaru called the dealer and lined them out pronto! Dealer resolved the problem without a word. I also talked to a second dealership in that issue. Unfortunately a pervious bad experience with a Nisssan taught me to do these things.
