Thanks. I was wondering where the strap was connected and didn't see any point on my new truck.

15 years and never added weight to my double cabs. 4wd and go. Since we're posting snow pics.

I've had 4wd trucks forever and never added weight to the back in winter...that's why I bought 4wd

I think some folks think too much.

My son in law is from upstate NY. He is right. The snow needs to be trucked out of town they have to plow so much. He said they get into patterns where it snows daily for a week. He moved to So. NH to get away from it. He still gets significant snow but claims he can enjoy it now it's so comparably less.

We average about 100 inches.....they can get that in a month.

Agree...Double cabs like SUVs have much better weight distribution to begin with......no need for many.

Though I don't doubt what you say, there are areas in the lower 48 getting lake effect snow that rivals anywhere in Canada. The poster from Syracuse knows from where he speaks. Lots of snow does not occur in the coldest climates, it occurs in a temp range like those around large bodies of water and closer to freezing.

Yes. I installed a 2" receiver hitch up front on my gen1 and it was the most benefit all mod O have ever made to a truck. Of course for the obvious "towing" benefits in tight places it was great but hooking on all sorts of toys was good too.

    Thank you sir

 here's to winter being just around the corner! Picking up v-bar tire chains to fit my 33s at NAPA today - the snow could start sticking any day now.

As long as you have good tires, no extra bed weight is required in my experience. I've gone through 8 New England winters with my 2008 V6 SR5 AC 4x4 and have never had an issue in the snow. Believe me, I've driven the truck through some horrific snow here in central Massachusetts.
As long as you're tires are good (I'm on my 3rd set of the OEM Dunlop Grandtrek) , you shouldn't have any problems in the snow.

2" receiver has been one of the most useful mods to my truck yet. Right up there with the tool box. It gives a really solid recovery point in front

Im sitting in Syracuse right now. tell them to drive north 40 minutes from the Syracuse airport and we stop measuring in inches...

Any idea how many times I clear 2-3 feet and drive to work to see what big Syracuse got and how my coworkers are complaining about the snow? That's why I giggle at Syracuse. only reason that they hit some records is because of the population

We don't get an enormous amount of snow in Pittsburgh, but our road maintenance and snow removal services are awful, so the morning commute is often tricky (usually a dusting of snow with slush and ice on the roads).

When I had the factory BFGs on my truck, I kept weight in the bed because the traction in 2x4 was terrible. It helped, but not enough to avoid using 4x4 more than I would have liked on slushy roads. I upgraded to Duratracs last winter and did not have to put any weight in the bed. The truck found traction in 2x4 with no problems.

Had a friend weld me up a bar on the male end which served as a bumper guard when not using. It was also immeasurably use ful "pushing" my boats around into tight places for storage. I didn't put it on my last two trucks...we have a Kubota now with holes in the bucket to mount a hitch....still I am looking to install one in my 2015.
