Has to be, but we probably won't find out what it is. Toyota is going to do the same thing they did with head gasket on 2005-2006 trucks.
Make change quietly for 2007 let 2005-2006 trucks blow their engine, and deny any problem existed.
If you don't believe me search 2gen section for head gasket issue.

If there's a design flaw causing problems in any vehicle there will be a recall issued.

Can anyone verify this engine is/was handed down or was derived from its Lexus division?

Has to be, since oil pan No1 looks like came from car. Thats where probably oil is pooling.
Thats why people see this with nose down, running for extended time. With nose down flat pan will prevent oil from reaching to oil pan No2. It will take couple minutes at idle since pump runs with the speed of engine.
Not a problem on cars which drive on roads that are mandated to have small slopes.
But a problem on a truck that everybody think can off-road.
Looks like stupid design. So many people with the same problem can not be wrong.

Actually I had seen people take their 2gen V6 and i4 almost vertical and never lose oil pressure. Neither any 1gen had that problem.

I am not in a business of designing trucks.
1GR was designed in Japan by the team for Land Cruiser. Its brilliant design. Toyota should have went with that, with Made in Japan engine.
Maybe if they spent les time on GoPro and more on engine it would be working better :D

Was the Yota... by design apparently. Certian RPM or reverse will stall it.

Is there a reason you are saying this happens by design ?
If the engine stalls and you are coasting backwards while the transmission is in forward shouldnt matter . The truck should not stall . What year is your Yota ? I have to look into this
Not saying this doesnt happen to you but there are provisions in place to keep this from happening

There have been two cases of this, and only one has been repeatable.

There have been dozens of cases where BlueT outright lies to try and prove an incorrect point.

Ya'll need to stop drinking the troll kool-aid

Alright, first off I need to let my fail be known. My dumbass thought 100% it was the low oil pressure light. Failure, it is the low oil light. Confirmed after this test. Once again I have the LOW OIL warning not LOW OIL PRESSURE......BTW this is a 25 degree pitch down, 10 degree to the left.....
