You crazy, they not going to recall oil problems because thats not safety issue. They did not recall bad head gaskets on 2005-2006 trucks despite good portion of them blowing engines up.

What are you talking about? The Diesel is the only motor the Colorado uses that was primarily used in international applications before this one. The other motors have been used in other GM vehicles here in the U.S. for years now.

You implied that the V6 gas engine used internationally is the same as the one in the Colorado in another quote:
Or at least that's how I read it. I'm glad we agree that the LFX is relatively untested over significant time or distance in the Colorado. Similar to how the 2GR is untested in a Tacoma but well tested in the Lexus lineup.

As for the Diesel it's international standing means little to nothing. The emissions package on the NA Diesel is completely different and that will potentially change a lot reliability wise.

Never said the 6 was from international use. Never said it was unreliable either. Quite the contrary. Again, you failed to do your hw.

I like how everytime a Toyota has a massive recall it's "not that big of a deal" but if it's anyone else, it's "a catastrophe!"

    This is your own quote:
We were talking about the Diesel being different overseas, which it is because the emissions standards aren't the same, and then you tried to imply the gas engines are the same internationally which would tie into reliability exceptions, which is false. Don't get pissy over it.

Yea, it's no biggy...just very fitting 'cause all I have been saying is that 'yota is has their problems too...they once again, proved that....so you can't think the Taco will always be immune.

Well I chose the Tacoma because of QDR....I believe Toyota is sincerely committed to QDR and the Tacoma has delivered since my first one back in the 90's. They step up to issues and recall vehicles for reliability and durability issues. Not necessarily relating to safety.

I don't see any reason why that would suddenly all go to hell with the 2016. Toyota and Honda are the only brands I would buy first year redesigns of and sleep well. They earned my business thought their reputation. Anyone who bought a 16 may feel the same.

I did check out the Canyons though......Nice trucks but I don't have the same confidence in GM and their service here is terrible.

Toyota is recalling the knee airbag too on a few hundred trucks. Put on your dancing shoes.

The next year or two will tell us what will fail and/or on the new Tacoma. All we do know are the limited recalls for the Tacoma that have happened and the larger recalls, so far, that happened in the Colorados first year of release. Again, that means nothing until this Tacoma completes it's first few years.

Nope....not an answer for everything. But if reliability is NOT a deciding factor, by all means by the bowtie. Your money, really don't give a shit. As far as towing....an extra 200lbs towing capacity is gonna make a difference in a buying a mid size truck. Ooooookay. Rolls eyes...

As far as disc brakes, sure it would be nice. But there ARE other mitigating factors, LIKE reliability. On my forth Toyota, put an alternator and starter in my 1st Gen. Kept it till it had 180K. My 1992 had over 100K, no issues, my 91 Corolla, over 100K, no issues, my 2011, no issues. It IS a selling point. Keep your bells and whistles cuz long after your noise makers are dead, I'll still be beating the hell out of my Taco, drum brakes and all.

And you're right. Let's not take it too seriously. After all you ARE defending GM.

I drove both, I'm not a closed minded fanboy, I'll buy what I like - regardless of who's name is on the grill.

Just couldnt get past the Colorado interior. Z71. Nice truck, just not my cup of tea. Love the new Tacoma, front end and all.

Cadillac has treated me tremendously better than Toyota.... so everyone's experiences are different. With that said, I am not rooting against Toyota in anyway...the reason I am uncomfortable with the 3rd Gen is the way it was handled. 10 friggin' years of the 2nd gen... that says a lot about a truck, but also says a lot about the company behind it....10 years?! Not very forward thinking at all! Tacoma consumers would have been much better served if Toyota didn't wait until GM snuck up on them with the GM twins. Like them or not, they are a pretty kick ass addition to the midsize truck market, and they had a very good m marketing campaign....

So here we are at Toyota headquarters "Oh shit, God damn GM just build a midsize and are marketing them to 20 somethings as the 'cool' truck....oh wait, they build two...one is market to older men....damn it....now we got to get back to work!"
