You may have already touched on this, but did they give you any inkling of a timeline?

State Farm has done their initial estimate. The body shop was working on a parts order yesterday. They are hoping to be able to tear into it by the end of the week and hopefully I will know if it's totaled or not by the beginning of next week. If they do repair it, it could take up to a month or more.

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
They will find out upon removal of radiator cross support and bumper where the frame stands, then they can determine any additional damage. Since the other vehicle was not sporting a bumper, you hit high up over the bumper...there may be some engine and/or motor mount damage...nothing can be determined until they dive further into the mess....

    Patience grasshopper...

Yea we've told the body shop to try to find something major. And with the engine being in the wrong position I don't think it will be difficult.

All I can say is that I am thankful that the Tacoma's are built as good as they are. This is my sons 2015 truck on Saturday morning. He walked away banged up but alive. This was at 55 mph.

My goodness - what a first post!

Glad that your son is alright. Prayers and best wishes that he's recovering from being a bit banged up.

    Thank God he is alright.

I guess the truck is totaled?

Those high-speed single lane roads are scarey, especially with all the distracted drivers out there.

Back in 2002 my wife and I bought a 2001 Tacoma. After only 3 weeks a driver hit her head on and caused $12,000 damage. We paid $21,000 for the truck. Frame was bent, front end looked worse than the OP photos, what a mess. Shop had the truck for 60 days. She still drives that same truck today. They fixed her truck 100 percent, truck drove like new after we got it back.

He was very sore but no broken bones. We are waiting for the insurance company to tell us, they got the truck today. Every single air bag came out on the truck, which was a good thing. He said the scary part was everything went black and not being able to see anything because of the air bags.

Highly doubt the last one will be repaired. Glad he is alright. What did the other vehicle look like?

Very sore? After that? I would expect some broken disks in his back... but really, nothing?

The good lord was looking after him. The Highway patrol said the same thing. The other truck was an older Tacoma.

That is one thing I will say about these trucks in a front collision they are designed very well. The fact that he was still able to open the drivers door and that no glass broke is incredible.

Wow, so sad to see all these Tacomas smashed up.
But as many as others have said, they sure are safe vehicles.

I wish I had more pics from this as the damage was really extensive, the frame was bent so bad that the bed touched on one side and you could almost fit both fists in the other side. It was only 2 years old and the damage was around 15 grand, spent 48 days in the body shop and frame machine.

I talked to the body shop yesterday and it's in for tear down. I will hopefully get a call Monday with the results of that.
