Does everyone with lifted rear ends have axle shims? Pretty sure I've already chewed through both of my ujoints and my CB because it is squeaking like a motherfucker.

Did you do the things I suggested? Mainly grease the joints and flip the bearing? And yes you will wear out that bearing very fast without correction for it for lift. You will wear it out even faster if it isn't oem

 

I don't have shims but I only have a tsb pack with aal

Let's start with the 4wd. Both 4hi and 4lo. Switch into 4hi while driving any speed under 70. The light will flash a few times then stay solid. You should get a noise from the actuator engaging and some kind of clunk is not uncommon. The only thing you are looking for is for it not to engage (the light will stay blinking). Try this a few times to make sure it didn't just work once as a fluke. Check 4lo at a complete stop with the pedal literally to the floor. It won't engage otherwise. If it beeps at you then you didn't do it right. Once again, just make sure it works. Check the front axles for tears in the boots or signs of them leaking grease. If they are then obviously you "need" to fix that. Check for signs of it being wheeled. Visually of coarse. Also check the driveshaft play. Both rotationally and up and down in the carrier bearing.

That's all I got for 4wd specific. Obviously that's quite a bit of miles in 5 years but if they are street miles and the truck is stock then my guess is it's not abused much. I hope you like it though ....... Haha

Haven't flipped the bearing. And whatever joints are in there don't have fittings at all. The new joints I have in my toolbox have fittings on them, but that does me no good for the squeak as of now

 

Nice man! And I fucked up 1 word so let me say it again. When 4wd is engaged the light will STOP blinking and stay solid. That's what you are looking for. If the light stays blinking then you have problems and there are a few things it could be from a price range of >$100 to <a few thousand.

Also more specifically, 4hi has to be engaged before 4lo will work. If you turn the switch to 4lo and it beeps AT ALL then turn it back to 4hi and then try again. It's also not uncommon to find that you need to be rolling for 4hi to engage and also that you need to be rolling for 4hi to disengage. Once again a clunk, maybe even felt like something just messed up, is not uncommon. Engaging at all is the big thing

 

Anyone at Memphis area have stock rear shocks I could get on Thur or Fri? I've got my old ones but there are vice grip marks and missing boot on one of them.

 

I have my stock rear shocks. I'm in Jackson though.
