How exactly would that work if you were connecting to an existing wire in a T connection ? Is the shrink wrap split or something ?

 

Puzzle. It looks like you need to pull all the split-off wires up through the single lead hole, connect, then pull down through. So for an existing harness to t off of, I think it wouldn't' work unless you had a lot of slack on the two ends of T cross.
