2016 Crawl Controlling Up A 40 Degree Angle Video

If the rear was 3 linked, and the frame bobbed up to the rear axle, it has the potential to climb higher than 40 degrees. This is because, you will increase the departure angle even more. Departure angle, tends to be an Achilles heel of trucks

Two questions..
Stock tires ?
What"s left of the tail pipe ?

 

I dont really off road at all but that looks pretty cool to me

 

Reminding me of 2nd gen cruise control. WFO...coast. WFO...coast. WFO...coast.

 

No reason stock tires couldn't do that, and those don't look anything special. Tail-pipe is out the side behind the tire, so it is probably fine. Not sure if they road-rashed the bumper though.

Tires are everything. If the stock tires work, fine, they are decent. Personally if I were doing a demo for a car, I would make sure tires were more then up to the task.

 

Personally if I were doing a demo for a car, I would make sure I only posted the video if it worked. That hill looks like it is hard as a rock, so unless the tires are just too hard, anything with 4wd and enough power should make it up. No reason to make the truck look like it requires better tires if stock works.

 

Enough power.....low range and the four cylinder should work too. But I get the point of the demo. It is doing it with little fuss from the driver.

Yeah. I always think that when I see videos on here of people "off roading." Think the truth is simply most people's concept on here of being off road differs greatly from the few of us that have blazed trails.

I just sigh a little and carry on. Lol

YES my truck does hairier shit than that all damn day. That's exactly my point. And it's not even overly modified. My last truck was a SAS'd taco. When I say I took it off road I mean there were NO roads. No tire tracks to follow. In fact to show off I used to put the front tire/s up to a (you guessed it!) 90° -- that's straight up -- incline and walk the truck up it. So yeah... So much for your smug response.

30-35° Really isn't that impressive. It's a rock face so it's basically a perfect grip situation.

Let me back up here just a minute:

My overall point was... This is impressive to SOME folk who "off road" lightly. I can see how it would be impressive to some. But if you've done some really hairy shit before...

It's all about perception and relatively. To you and others who don't do hardcore stuff this is impressive to others here it's *yawn*. Don't mean offense just offering explanation.

 

Isn't the point of Crawl Control to use the computers to do stuff that would be difficult without the extra processing power? In that case, I'd be interested to see how difficult it was for them to get up that without Crawl Control. My guess is that it wouldn't be all that difficult without it.

Lookie here,Bob,I guess my smug remarks were prompted by your smug remarks,of the video not being impressive.I guess if no one can 4 wheel as good as you or pudgut there, then they aint about sh#t.I never started the thread to impress anyone ,just show some other footage of an awesome truck doing its thing other than the footage we were bombarded with in the beginning of all the different reporters driving the same boneyard course.Just imagine what the truck will be capable of in your skilled hands.As far as a 90 degree angle,you do realize that's straight up and down?How do you start your approach ,do you have a crane lower you into position setting you on your tailgate and then give it the gas????I know of one machine that can climb a 90 degree angle,its a rocket ship ,Bob.
