I got my wife an eno doublenest as well - she loves it. I've never slept over night in it. We lend it to my dad to try out and he spend the night in it - was very comfortable.

I've got a Hennessy Hammock Expedition, spent two weeks on the Appalachian Trail in it, comfortable and there are a lot of add ons for them

Thinking of about getting the Ultralight version. Does it come with a bug net? Did you need to buy tree straps?

The tree protectors I believe were separate, you can use the standard line though if you want and mine is all one piece with bug net included

That's a sweet setup. Hopefully there will be a nice Black Friday sale on them.

I find the Spot (was 130, now 200 lumen) to be the best balance between size/weight and output (as well as cost) for me personally. I have four headlamps in my car right now and three are Spots. Haha

I can't emphasize enough how important it is to learn how to hang a hammock properly, and how to lay in it properly for maximum comfort. Learn from the folks that live in these things in tropical regions, and watch how they use them. A good droop to the hammock, a big wide piece of fabric, and lay in it "diagonally" - you truly will sleep flat if you offset yourself by about 30 degrees. The more droop (but not too much), the flatter you'll lie in it when offset. Also, a larger hammock will allow a better offset sleep position, so don't go with some micro hammock that isn't wide enough.

Play around with different tensions to your hammock and get familiar with it before taking it into the field. Once you have it hung right, you'll feel your back being supported, your body straight, and you won't even need a pillow.

    Truth.

I only have 2 Spots, both the same generation and I got them on REI Clearance for like $9 a piece, maybe $7! And they're AWESOME.

Beat my $40 Petzl the first minute I turned it on. The Spot feature is kick ass. Flood setting is perfect for camp stuff also. Absolutely floored with those purchases.

True, because they have built in screens. For those who choose a hammock without a screen (hence, no reference ridgeline), hanging the hammock becomes more freestyle. Just takes a couple hangs to get it right. Don't fear the droop!

I'm looking for a lighter solo shelter when I'm out alone. Any recommendations. I camp in places that are windy quite often and rainy now and then so most options are just way too flimsy. The ZPacks Solplex seems to be the best enclosed option but is over $500 so I am willing to look at any other suggestions.

I know how versatile a tarp shelter can be but I'd really like something enclosed with bug netting. I've considered a tarp and bug bivy combo but that get's to be up to regular tent weights between the two. Anyone into gram counting have any favorite shelters? (Other than the expensive Solplex I'm considering)
