I'm having difficulty getting the text message display function to work on my truck. I've read through the manual and since each phone is different they are pretty vague. Every other function seems to work fine, call history, contacts, etc. just stuck on this one issue. iPhone 6 is my phone.

Try deleting all messages on your phone. Should sync after that.

I think pictures and/or emoticons mess up the sync process...

You could delete one text thread at a time until it syncs...

Sit in your truck, turn off bluetooth on phone, delete one message thread, turn on bluetooth on phone, wait for it to connect to truck, see if you are able to pull up messages on truck's display unit.

    Repeat until messages appear.

reason I say Samsung, they set all the phones to retain the last 1000 texts and 100 mms. the headunit has a hard time trying to sync 1000+ text and whatnot over Bluetooth. this will cause the head unit to timeout or crash since its waiting for a response from the phone.

if you crank the retention down to like the last 100 and like 20-30 mms, the head unit responds hell of lot faster.

Ok. Salesman told me it would not pull up prior messages, only ones that were received while paired with truck. Any truth to that or is there a setting on the truck to change?

here's a better idea, just focus on driving and answer your text when you get to your destination?
whether its from the car or not is still distracting drivers from paying attention to the road.

Some lady almost hit me the other day cause she was too busy fucking with her stupid bluetooth shit.

Maybe thats what the problem is. You can always try one-by-one method.

I don't think there is any setting on the truck.

Well, nodak says there is an option. I don't know...I'm too lazy and just deleted all my messages and it worked fine after that.

    Good luck.

You can't adjust any Bluetooth items. Many times a day i have to address urgent items. It would be nice to know if one pops up so I can make a call or pull over.

I tried getting the messages to work with my iPhone 6 last night. No history would show up, but new text messages would pop up (was having a buddy text me). Then I'd go back to it to look at messages, and it would go back to saying "do you want to setup a phone". Very erratic, worked like crap. Inconsistent.

One thing I found by googling is that you have to go into you iphone BLUETOOTH settings (on the phone itself) and hit the "i" button. From there you have to make sure the "Show Notifications" option is set to ON.

We should definitely assume that OP is going to kill someone because he's asking about head unit functionality because "some lady almost hit" you, possibly "fucking with her stupid bluetooth shit."
