from start to finish, what is the parts list and "other stuff too" you need to add a supercharger onto a 3.4 stock truck?

don't I need new injectors as well? and what about the computer and sensors and stuff? also don't you need headers to let all that extra air out?

    and what about this:

    INSTALLING THE TRD SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM

The TRD Supercharger System requires a special

calibration that needs to be installed into the OEM

ECU. The supercharger calibration is unique for

each model variation and cannot be interchanged.

NOT ALL MODELS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A

    SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM!

Do not install the TRD Supercharger System

until the OE vehicle calibration ID can be

verified, and a Supercharger Calibration exists

    for your vehicle

    and this:

Installation of the TRD Supercharger calibration file is NON-REVERSABLE!

Installation of a TRD supercharger calibration into a non-supercharged equipped vehicle will result in multiple malfunction codes. There is no way to remove a supercharger calibration once the ECU has been programmed.

Replacement of the ECU will be required if an OE calibration is needed.

Pretty sure that's for a 4.0...with the 3.4 you don't do anything to the ecu....unless you wire in the 7th....it uses the stock injectors

so all you do is bolt it on and reset the ecm and that's it? nothing else is needed?

also is there anything to fear buying a used one? do they wear out? if buying used is there any reconditioning to do?

I'm curious on the issue regarding high mileage installs. I may consider this in the future, if I ever get the extra funds. Ha. But by then I'll have way more miles than I currently have at about 170k. By then it'll probly be time for a new motor then it would be the ideal time for the supercharger?

I had 250k ...I swapped to a new motor with 100k at the same time that I added The supercharger.

so are they rebuildable? seams logical to rebuild one before installing if you can get the parts to do it?

is it just the bearings that wear or do the internal blades that move the air wear out?

sorry for all the questions, I don't expect you to be expert but you are the one responding so im asking lol

Yes you can rebuilt it yourself! It's not super easy. Most people just replace the bearings... I didn't do anything but it would be a good thing to do

I would begin research with this Oct. 1 thread and then contact the current seller of the design (LCE Performance) for specific questions. It's $3K + your labor.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3-4l-supercharger-is-back.393777/

I've never read of any other meaningful way to add power to a 3.4 that's been specifically engineered and tested for our application, and quite frankly we are lucky to have had the truck maker's input and "stamp of approval" for such a major solution offered after the fact.

One former member here I've talked to said he'd never buy another 1st Gen again unless it had the blower, because that's what he once owned and loved it. I suspect if each of us had the scratch, this thing would be every bit as popular on the forum as discussions about shocks and springs are.

what would be a "good" price for a used SC? $1500, $2000, $2500? just wondering if I find one when to just buy new instead.

I found this video if others are interested in whats involved in putting one on:

my budget is already blown :boom: like $500-$1000 but that's unrealistic. I might be able to throw $1500-$2000 absolute max at it for 100% everything included
where did you get it? was it new or used for that price? if new, links please?

Interestingly enough, from what I understand some used ones prior to Oct. here and on eBay were going for $4-$5K. Sellers capitalized on the fact new ones were unobtainium.

And then they became available new again, and well ...

The one currently available for sale in Rock's link above is interesting that while it's *almost* what a new one would cost, he's added value by including stuff you might have wanted to add yourself. I don't all the ins and outs of why, but as with any endeavor there always seems to be a "better" way.

The question here comes down to, does the basic TRD blower kit need something more, and/or how convincing is any argument that tweaks such as that fuel supply upgrade necessary?
