I've been doing some reading around and there are a few questions I have that I couldnt find the answer to. I'm thinking about getting a 2" lift. I was going to buy bilstein shocks and use the OME dakar leafs in the back.

So I've read in some places, including the FAQ that one shouldnt mix the bilstein 5100 front shocks with aftermarket springs, yet most of the kits out there come with aftermarket springs. Something about damaging the balljoints is what I read.

Whats the deal here? Are aftermarket springs going to be ok or not? I've read that these shocks were not made to hold very striff springs, so are aftermarket springs only okay up to a certain spring rate or should they just be avoided?

My other question is, does the dampening of the shock need to match the spring rate of the springs or do I need not worry about that?

Basically I was going to to change the rear leafs and new shocks all around, and use whatever setting in the front to achieve 2" of lift with stock coils. Then sort of figure out what kind of coils would suit my needs off road, but I'm reading conflicting information about coils in the front.

    Too few to list.
Lots of people mix 5100's with either OME's or Eibachs. I'm not sure how much lift can be achieved on 3rd gens but if I was go guess, OME 884's would lift around 2" with a DC.
