What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

To be serious your questions are pretty vague. For example I can argue that you have a hole in your gas tank off of this assumption. I can leave my truck for a week and the gas level stays at the same height. I can suck up 6 gallons of gas in 2 hours. I know my reason for bad gas mileage. Gas mileage is no simple answer. Large tires. Bad driving, poor maintenance, old truck.... List goes on. I know I sound like an ass

 

Go no more than 65 on the free way, slow accelerations, long stops, don't use a/c, have road tires, smooth camper shell = 25 mpg when all highway

 

You don't sound like an ass at all. He gave us no information to work with...

 

My tank is fine and the truck is regularly maintained but gas mileage has seemed to drop over the summer I also have 33x12.5 BFG all terrains

 

And does a camper shell help as much as I heard

 

Well there you go, put stock tires on with street tread, and drive like a chauffeur.

 

First thing I would do is clean the throttle body. The idle air control could be gummed up. The other common part not mentioned is the Mass air flow sensor.

 

Both passenger aft bolts broke. Used liquid wrench also. I did get 8 new one's before starting the job.

 

I made a stand for the motor. So I can change the timing belt and add the transmission when it gets here. It will just make it easier.

 

you know i was wondering about the spec on the tacoma suspension bolts. they are all super light and almost look aluminum but i think i saw somewhere that they are all like grade 9 hardened steel.

Naaaa. It's my old man back! I can't really bend over for a very long time. So I had to raise the motor to work on it. I thought about just putting it in the truck and working on it there. But once it's in. It's in and not coming back out. Plus I want to put the tranny on before I put it in the truck.

 

But why not just make 10 stronger

man i can't find where i saw the bolt grade. the caliper bolts and control arm bolts and steering rack bolts all have that alloy look to them
