Love it! But to be honest, if I am in deep enough water or mud to require one of those, I made a wrong turn somewhere. I've driven HMMWVs through water that made me need to set the throttle control and kneel on the seat. Fun, but the f-in smell and mess after was a PITA to clean up. Not sure I trust my door seals in the Taco that much.

Not just that. Cleaner air up top than bringing it in through the wheel well, less dust, road debris, etc

Even at Southington with water up to the sliders you feel better when you know it isnt sucking from the wheel wells, even though I doubt more than vapor could get splashed up the way the stock thing 'S-turns'. Still nice to know you can just bomb it.

I never intentionally went in that deep of water, crossed it once and was fine, but on the way back I found a low spot that put the water at hood level. I just pressed on and tried to keep a nice wave off the bow, hoping I created a decent enoufh eddy to let the taco breathe. Needless to say, she didn't hydro lock, but I wasn't going to wait any longer for the new one to come out. Like I said I had already waited a year.

As others have said, its not just for deep water. After going to 35's and having to remove the wheel well liners, the intake is just completely exposed and can suck in all the tire wants to throw at it. It just makes sense to have the intake located up high.

Both very good points. Certainly makes it worth considering more.
