Hi guys I come from another world called t4r. I'm here to help out my father who purchased an 06 Tacoma. If somebody could point me to some links for my options to level or lift the Tacoma that would be great. Not sure if it's the same on a Tacoma as on my 4runner, but I did Bilstein 5100 with FJ coils to lift my 4runner, not sure if I could do the same with the Tacoma. Just looking to probably level out the front thanks for any links or input guys.

Edit: oh and We're on a budget

Thanks for the info, I am not familiar with tacomas at all. How do I know if I have a leaf added... I guess my question should be how many leafs are stock. We bought it used, not sure what the previous owner did or didn't do.

If a leaf was added you will have 4 leafs in total. A shorter thicker one on the bottom and 3 longer springs on top of that. If you have 4 leaf spring then do a 1.75" for the front and you will be level. If you only have 3 leaf springs then do a .85" lift. Billstien 5100 shocks. They are adjustable and can be used with your stock coils. Throw in those shocks, do an alignment and your done.

Is it the same bilstein 5100 part number for all models cuz I'm also having trouble identifying if it's a trd sport or sr5 , i don't think it's a off road cuz it has no rear locker button, but it is 4x4

If it has a hood scoop it's a TRD sport. It should also say it on the side of the truck. If doesn't matter what model taco it is, the billys will fit all of them

That's the thing, it's confusing. It has Hood scoop, says nothing on side, Has TRD badge on right side of tailgate, Bilstein shocks, 17 inch wheels, No rear locker button, but I'm not sure if it's an sr5 and he just put a TRD badge or if it is indeed a sport

Not true. Skewped hoods are inexpensive and a good mod.

NO, NO, NO! I have the same truck, a 2006. I have owned it since the day it rolled off the delivery truck. I did the whole process. Started with 3" spacer lift in the front, with blocks in the back because it was cheap. I put up with it for a few years and had enough. Ride was really bad, flex was bad, etc. So I spent a few more dollars and got some 5100's because everyone said they were so great. Installed the adjustable 5100's in front (I forget what the lift height was, it was 2.75 or 3 inches) and installed 5100's in the back with the same blocks. Well that sucked just as much. Back to the pocket book, bought iron man 3" lift coils that were rated 275lb above oem, and matching 3" iron man rated struts. The ride is better than OEM! Except I still had alot of "body roll" in the back. I was really close to tossing the 5100 rear shocks in the trash, but decided to try Dakar ALL in the back and toss the blocks. MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!

Long story short, spend some money now, or spend a whole lot more later to get what you wanted in the first place :) Between the parts and time I wasted on the 5100's and the spacers, etc, I could have saved myself a whole lot of money just doing it right in the first place. If you can do all the work yourself, you can replace the front coils, the struts, the rear shocks and AAL for under $2000 easily

    hope that helps

If it is a 2006 TRD Sport package #1, it will have hood scoop, color matched front and rear bumper, color matched door handles, color matched grille, color matched rear view mirrors, and TRD Sport interior. In other words, the "pretty package". If it has 2006 TRD Sport package #2, you have all items listed in package #1, plus towing package, transmission oil cooler, oil cooler, hi amperage alternator, rear LSD, etc. Sport package #1 was a few hundred bucks, I think I paid about $3100 for sport package #2. I'll try to find sticker.

    Hope that helps

Found original sticker, here is original info on 2006 TRD Sport #2 Package... thats my original sticker.

    plus...

The Sport is targeted more towards improved road performance, while the Off-Road is more geared towards the off-road enthusiast. Both are available in 2WD or 4WD, with rear electronic locking differential. The TRD Sport package comes in two levels.

The first level has a color-matched grille, color-matched front/rear bumpers, color-matched door handles, color-matched mirrors, Bilstein shocks/struts, TRD interior, hood with scoop, A/C inverter in the bed, bed rails with cleats, stainless steel exhaust tip and 17" wheels.

The second level includes the above and also adds a towing package, oil and transmission coolers, heavy-duty high output alternator, and an aluminum skid plate. The 2005 to 2008 model years came with a mechanical true limited slip locking differential. The 2009 model year onwards has an open differential with a brake assisted "automatic limited slip" rear differential, similar to a VSC system...

But, I have to ad, that almost all of that stuff listed has been upgraded :)
