Yup. I just cut a small plastic bottle in half and set under it.

If its been off for a while, it can plug up with dirt, so its a good idea to run a wire down it if it plugs up.

Yeah, I don't think I ever wash mine, and the dust out here is like baby powder, so anything with a cap, or other seal, I try to keep intact.

another funnel - $4.37 wally world funnel - funnel threads are a perfect fit.

the black/blue screw on cut-off valve has a wire mesh filter screen fits a mobile1 qt. bottle for a quick top off every few months for the oil burners.

My filter wrench wouldn't work with my taco filter...and it was on TIGHT. I finally took a latex glove (keep a box for dirty jobs anyways) and snapped the glove over the top of the filter to give me a little better grip. Fairly easy to twist off by hand with the glove placed over the filter. I don't even bother with the wrench anymore. Just a tip, what works for me....

    Great post OP!

I asked this in the 2nd gen forum -- I think it might be better if I ask here. I know Ive seen the values listed before

How much engine oil between the full and low mark.

how much oil fits into the oil filter.

OP thanks for this write up

I purchased everything off Amazon and eBay (pics below) and my process works great

I'm not saying I'm the quickest but it usually takes me <25 minutes with the following tools

    a7a036d005ebd9f7aedd74b578bd080d_7a8da933d36a29dd004b7168d382da5086392078.jpg

Also I get my oil and filters online

    e6caa3b0ea50bdac1a4aa3dcd449484c_64a9d47229c9220e54967cf5d3241738f655ac76.jpg

The bulk purchases work great for me since my wife has a 4th gen 4Runner that also has the 1GR-FE so I can get everything I need at once

I've priced it out per oil change and I'm spending $47.38 which I feel like is a great deal considering I'm using Mobil 1 Synthetic and OE Toyota filters

I like that recycle oil jug, but I just use an old 5 qt oil bottle.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Seems like a waste of dough.

I just use the new quart bottles I just emptied into the engine and take them to the local oil recycling place (Pepboys).

Yup. Oil bottles work and you can just drop them off and not have to wait.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
I've been running a tube down to the drain pan. I'll let it drain and dribble until I'm done with the oil change, then use a rag to wipe out the catch basin and disconnect. If I'm sloppy I might get a drop on the garage floor.

I have been mulling over replacing the drain plug with the valve (fumoto). No more oil on my socket or hand when I remove the drain plug.

There's a magnet drain plug available for our trucks, GoldPlug P/N AP03: http://goldplug.com/shop/ap03/ I bought one, shown with larger AP24 for the front diff. Both are stainless steel:

    IMG_1941s%2Bgold%2Bplug_9499a8f636efb8b2fb0a7855b7d91b0720dbdc53.jpg

Changed the oil today and noticed the GoldPlug oil drain plug uses a 15mm socket instead of 14mm stock.

^Yep. Expensive. You are paying for machined stainless steel and a pretty strong magnet (stronger than the OEM one on the rear diff).

Was going to order the fumito valve but was a little worried about leakage/breaking so I ordered the Goldplug. It looks like it has a permanent washer and not a crush washer.

Have had a fumoto for 5 years, and never had a leak or any issue.

The GoldPlug comes with an aluminum washer, similar to OEM but without the felt lining. It is not meant to be reusable.

So it's a regular washer from the hardware store?

what the drain plug washer? No, it's a crush washer that you get from the stealership.
