I placed an "order" for a specific truck, the sales manager even said I had to pick a specific color when I said I would like blue or inferno. I completed the paperwork and gave them a deposit, in return I received a copy of the paperwork complete with build date, vin and projected delivery date. After my build date (Oct 13) I called the dealer and asked for an update. My dealer's response was I just need to be patient and that they are still searching for a truck that meets my request. This sounds very fishy.

My order is for a double cab long bed sport 4x4. When he asked what color I wanted I said the blue or orange would be fine. When he said pick a color for the order I told him blue. It seemed pretty strait forward at the time.

It' it's easier to ask, "are all dealers full of crap ?"

The dealer may have to find another truck at another dealer to swap with him to get your color. May be wrong, I would be concerned for the delay. Maybe, damage in transit. I would talk with them again and give them all your color options. You may not know for sure till your truck ( that matches vin ) arrives. If it matches, I would check very closely for damage.....

I doubt they are not really building 'you' a truck.

They're much more likely to be looking for one that fulfills your core requests that can have a few extras tossed on, either at the port or dealership.

I have completed all the paper work to include my trade and the final price to be paid to the dealer. Adding anything else to try to elevate the price would end in me telling them where to stick it. I didn't get the worst deal but I didn't get the best either.

Of course they are. It's just a matter of degree

I call them Stealerships for a reason; even the best of them is shady as sin and hot as a $2 pistol

When I ordered my 2015 Trd pro last Year they said it would be built by December 1st. When I called on the 1st they said it had been shipped from Texas via rail car and would be there the next week. I called every week till Christmas and then started calling EVERY DAMN DAY until I finally got it mid January. 45 days for a train to make a trip from Texas to Colorado!? Bull shit. Most of the time they didn't answer and they never returned my calls.

A month and a half doesn't sound like a long time but when it's the first new car you have ever bought and you have a 3k down payment on it, you sold your only car before December in anticipation of an on time delivery, and you planned a road trip through the mountains over Christmas since you planned on having a new 4 wheel drive, not getting the truck for 45 more days suddenly enfuriates you.

Um ya my Toyota experience has been shit. Now after 10k miles my truck needs a needle bearing but the dealer claims that they can't feel the overwhelming vibration everyone else who rides in my truck can feel so they are refusing to do anything to fix it. Seriously fuck Toyota.

lol caveat empor. that's not Toyota's fault. I don't see Toyota giving you a hard date. all they give is an estimated date. if your dealer is telling you something different you need to take it up with the dealer not Toyota.

my dealer just gave me estimated dates, never a hard date. the only date they could give me .... "ill call you when it arrives at the dealership".

also to add, even dealer daily shows estimated dates of when its built. if you look at the website the first column says estimated dates. the right side shows actual dates.

hell even my estimated date was not even correct. my est date of build was 9-13, pushed to 9-15 and actual was 9-23.

It's a little easier for me to accept if I just think of them as small contractors who make most of their money when the times are good and have to "put off" the little guy for the sure money. They are selling a hot product now. The only alternative is to pull out amd wait for more desperate times on their part. Then stick it to them.

My issue is why would they tell me to request a specific color if it wasn't going to be an actual order when I told them I gave them two choices to begin with?

I've been waiting since beginning of August for mine. Double cab sport longbox with everything seems to be rare. Especially if you want jbl sound system and tonneau cover.

Not sure what is the problem as limited and off roads are plentiful in dame configuration

Everything with a dealer is an "estimate" My dealer said 'mid October" I took delivery on the 12th. I ordered early September and never called with a date as I know they could not give me an exact date. They are not in control of the logistics. They have VINs on their website with approximate days available. Sold out of all TRDs in a week. They know when a truck is coming when the driver calls with an ETA
