You have to think from their point of view. In Australia snorkels are a very common sight. You'll see dozens in the big cities. While there is a demand for second gens, it's not that big in reality, and the cost of obtaining a US vehicle, shipping it to Australia, making a snorkel, and then selling them in another country is a gamble.

Given the SS171 (2nd Gen specific snorkel) is a brand new application... The normal price is the one you've seen listed ;)

And we have received shipping confirmation on a half dozen en route now. Still not the big numbers we want to have before kicking of a GB but better than the one or two at a time we have been getting. The pipeline is filling up slowly.

Bingo. The US is likely less than 5% of their market and the 2nd Gen Tacoma being purely a US spec vehicle... Perhaps will account for .1% of their sales for 2016? With a new Hilux, new Land Cruiser, etc. They don't put as much effort into getting to the US market.

    Back to the group buy!

I know this GB idea has drug on. My original idea was to do a 1-week sale price aka group buy price but that was assuming we could get our hands on 20-30 at a time. We would then ship direct, can combine shipping and ship any we have in stock and back order the rest. What if we do a 3-day sale and kick it off this Thursday? So you have Thurs, Fri and Monday to call in your order (no dibs, as soon as we have your payment info your in line) and we ship them from there. If we have more interest than we have snorkels, we'll back order those customers and process their card and ship as they come into stock. If there is still want/need again... We can do a second 3 day deal in a few months. Interest? We currently have the SS135MOD (be clear, this is the model that take minor mods) snorkels on a "New Low Price" offering of $335.50. Group buy 3-day sale price would be $307 + shipping. Interest?

Oh yeah. What I meant to say is, I don't care about a GB I just want the SS171 to be released.

I'm in, wish we had this info at Expo East, would have liked to picked your brain instead of our antics and poking fun at Clay instead. :)
What number do we call and I'll hand over my cash!

Do you know if there is a pre filter available or in the works?

We should have a pre-cleaner option in stock, there are pre-filter (filter socks) available from Aus but nothing we currently stock.

    Ring us Thursday!

Beaver, I stopped by today as well. I asked the ARB guy if he thought the products he was showing would be ready before SEMA 2016... He didn't think that was as funny as I did. In all seriousness, the size of the snorkel for 2nd and 3rd Gens are the result of Safari caring greatly about how the snorkels flow. I believe that it's all about how well they flow. ARB told me that there would be ZERO issues with running an s/c on the new 2nd gen snorkel. That's great news to me. a529a602b4c3fe8fb035a666cee272f4_e10141122b3143711d01a0955f6fdad7966c86a3.jpgec13b1302ec40f115b545ca7d551003d_c36e521f80289afcbfd835b913fd99c56991dde3.jpgbb21c22faf5f7bb65b510c0d522f09df_f12fd3311c62321b1433ee2c04be211410a8a5e6.jpg

Man I can't wait to get mine from @cruiseroutfit!

I don't know why so many complain about the size. I think snorkels in general look ugly, so why not get one that performs better?

So if it's about air flow, then why do so many on this thread and others complain about the Airflow snorkel being too big and causing problems with air flow. Plus, they don't even make the superchargers anymore, so that really shouldn't be a main factor in creating the snorkel. How thick is the plastic on the snorkel and how much of it is just extra plastic to create the shape of it and how much of it is actually hollow for the flow of air? I'm honestly curious about this, because to me it seems like they're just making it bigger because the trucks keep looking boxier and bigger.. The older snorkels that everyone says work just fine with superchargers and regular engines alike are smaller, kind of like the trucks were... Does what I'm saying make sense?
