Thanks for all your help guys! Today, I am going to swap out the K&n intake for the stock first. Hope it cures the problem. If that doesn't fix the issue, then I'll know its something else. I'll keep you posted.

My '03 has an IAC valve. Are we talking about 3.4's or 2.7's?

maybe so, I don't know if the 2.7 didn't have the electronic TB or not.

I know the 3.4's have ECM electronic throttle control and no IAC valve but they have an IAV sensor on the air box that does control the "incoming air valve" much like the engine coolant water temp did on the older models with the IAC

the IAV uses fixed ports on top of the TB. its NOT an IAC valve "per say" because its either open or closed and doesn't "regulate as needed" like the IAC does on earlier trucks.

so it kinda has one but it really doesn't just like with the TPS, because its all integrated intoi the electronic throttle body and nothing you can change as a separate part number.

^^ I forgot to mention, I also have an EGR valve.

Like you said, '03-'04 models don't have the IAC or EGR... when I go to the dealer, they tell me my truck is an '02 due to some of the parts I have purchased in the past.

Makes me wonder if Toyota built my truck using whatever they had on the line at the time to get rid of other model year parts.

Does anyone know about a possible temporary "fix" for the iac regarding pushing the throttle down a bazillion times, with the truck off of course, to help "clean" the valve inside there? Seems like I read this somewheres here a long time ago. Anyways, I've been experiencing a very slight fluctuation myself and am thinking the iac is getting carbon build-up again. I cleaned it out a long time ago, and it helped a lot with the hot start stumbling. Which is getting pretty bad now. But I don't remember having the fluctuation in rpms before I cleaned the iac. Anyways, I decided what the hell, I'll try the throttle trick yesterday. It SEEMS to have worked. But I'll see tomorrow when I start her up on a cold start as it's more noticeable(the fluctuation). Gonna be taking the iac out and cleaning it when I get time along with cleaning the throttle body. Just wondered if anyone has heard of the throttle trick..

I read about that, its a "somewhat" fix for a dodgy TPS with about A 40% success rate by "wiping" the resistor strip inside so it makes better contact.

its not for the IAC, nothing you can do about IAC but clean or replace

yep they do that sometimes and "where" it was assembled can make a difference in assembly supply parts

Hmm so it sounds like the tps may be going bad. Could this cause any other issues besides the fluctuation? Is it just a thing that slowly goes out and not a major concern? Or can it cause more serious issues if it goes haywire?
