Need help with rear e-brake cable

My 98 SR5 V6 Xtra Cab 5 speed needs the rear e-brake assembly. The cable is siezed up inside the sleeve. I sourced some Toyota part numbers and came up with two of them. 46420-35541 and 46410-35740. I used my frame code and VIN. Went to Napa and referenced the 46420 number but it's to short. errr.... Any help would be appreciated! Do I even have the right part numbers?

 

Had the same issue. I'm a bit shocked at how little information there is to be found online about this considering the only after market cable that seems to be in production, made by Dorman, was too short. I cut a piece off my old cable and fastened the two together but I wouldn't recommend this. My next best solution was to just hit up a junk yard.

If it was too short, maybe you got a regular cab cable, assuming you are extra-cab.

 

I have an extended cab. I ordered the 95" one from rock auto. It is dorman. Says it's the cable for the extended cab. Bunch of hoopla!

the prices are from Toyota list prices and dealers don't even charge that much but they aren't that far off from dealer prices thou

 

I had such poor luck with aftermarket Emergency brake cables as long as I can buy E-brake cables from the dealer I will.

 

This is likely the best solution. It can be a bit confusing

Aren't there 4 separate cables? One from the cab to the 'bell-crank' underneath, another one from the 'bell crank' back to the rear axle, then 2 that go out to each backing plate?

 

$127.00 at my dealer. Dorman is $44.00. I'm gonna give it a try. If it doesn't work off to the dealer.

 

Two cables on the extended cab (my 2000) in any case the front cable to the intermediate lever from the handle in the cab

The rear cable from the intermediate lever to the bell cranks mounted on the brake backing plates .

If I go look I can most likely get the correct part #

I understand we all need to save where we can.

 

It won't be the right size. Look for a used one that you know came off an x-cab.

 

Well, the measurement of 95" is almost exactly what mine is that I took off. It's odd. The cable is about froze in the sleeve. I can pull it with a vise grip and for lack of a term feels " gooey ". Lol.

Not taking a parking break for granted again! Sucks when you don't have one. I've been under my pickup so many times I about know every nook and cranny.

 

Well, rockauto part was wrong. Someone said it would be they were right. $137.00 for oem one. At least it will be the right one. dealer looks up by vin
