I have a specific Navigation question, but didn't see a Thread on "Navigations questions", so I guess we need one :).
    Anyway, here is my question:

When driving North, the Navigation shows my little arrow pointing up as I want it to, but when traveling any other direction, it shows my vehicle arrow pointing in that direction on the display. I've had lots of other GPS's where you can adjust to "Auto North" so that regardless of which direction you are physically driving, the GPS always show you going forward.
I hate driving one direction and having the navigation icon moving downward or whatever then you have to figure out if you should turn right or left based on looking at a screen that is backwards...
    How do I adjust this?

    thanks

Why any one with a smartphone is still using a Garmin is beyond me. There are apps available that the make a Garmin seem like smoke signals.

With no unlimited data using my smartphone would cost me more in overages then the cost of a new Garmin every year. ;)

cause I love looking at a small screen that isn't made for bright conditions on a dash compare to a garmin.

I like to see a phone beat my 7" garmin for screen real estate :)

The app i use is called Backcountry navigator. No data required.
In fact I use it daily in areas that have zero cell service for work purposes (WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST)
I download all the USGS topographic maps, aerial images, sea charts, etc when I am at home or office via wifi. Then I just run the GPS on the phone. Can find my way around the backcountry perfect with it. Now it will not run street navigation like the Garmin but there ain't no streets where I work and play...

I just wish I could mirror my phone screen to the head unit. :annoyed:that would be tits to be able to have that display showing a USGS topo while driving in the desert.

I bet my 10 inch tablet running the same app i mentiones above has better resolution, faster updates, and any map you could ever dream of free of charge... again it will not do street navigation but that is not a problem here in the deserts of Nevada.

I wouldn't ditch Garmin just yet. Last weekend, I went on a small road trip and tried out the nav feature. I was approaching a highway intersection and the entune nav said simply turn left, when it was an actual right-hand exit with a flyover to the left. Had I not been in familiar territory, it would have been very easy to get bamboozled. Garmin has never failed me.

Used to run into similar scenarios when I had my 2013 Ram. ..it would also at times take me on a slightly longer route than the Garmin, despite the fact I didn't have any avoidances enabled.
