What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Could somebody help me out and tell me what this is and what it is supposed to be plugged into?

Seatbelt sensor, you dont need it.

The other end is probably stuck under the carpet.

Cant tell how far @jberry813 's sticks out but I'm sure if that bumper was on a 95-97 it would look like it sticks out far. Maybe the one I got was requested to stick out a bit further like you mentioned. Would be cool to know who the first person was to have it and what they drove.

 

Interesting. Someone had to request it to stick out as far as it does for mine.

Mine looks great from the front, and Ive gotten used to seeing it stick out from the side. Maybe i'll tighten it all up one day.

Read about those. They came with grease that you use to put on the Uniballs which is prob a bad idea. There is a whole thread on how someone bought them and then added different uniballs or bushings from allpro I think.

Today I did a compression test of my motor because of my odd misfiring/sputtering at start up and too high idle at almost 2k rpms.. I would say it mellowed out to about 1500rpms by the end of the night after we tried all our tests (resetting the ecu, compression test, & throttle cable adjustment). But all in all my cylinders were at 180,150,164,166. 1234 respectively. Not good but not terrible I don't think.

The numbers don't seem bad, but the jump from 180 to the lower range is what's interesting. I've heard that it should stay consistently in the same range like between 2-4. So many things it can be. When I had my misfire I had small hair line cracks between the valves in the head. You could try a leak down test. Are you a non distributor 2.7? If so you'll have to test each coil. You can also change your plugs again. I know you said you already did. Its a possibility that one was bad and not knowing. I replaced my plugs with NGK and one was bad not knowing. I took it to Toyota and they said it was a bad plug and I only ran Toyota plugs from there on out. But that's where i'll start. If you do all that and it still misfires then i'm out of ideas. Winters starting

 

I have a huge love and hate relationship with winter. It's where my hrs drop to 40 and I take a break from the rush. But freeze my nuts off welding in the snow.

 

It is interesting isn't it? I don't know if I'm a non distibutor 2.7 if I had to guess I would say yeah but I don't really know. The main thing now is the high idle. It doesn't seem to be misfiring as bad since I cleaned the throttle body. I'm gonna do some resistance testing on things like the maf, iac, tps and see if that doesn't get me anywhere.
