Yea, have to first figure out the depth to set the ring. I was going to start with the LEDs about the same place as with the halogen's element from the mount ring and go from there. Also need to figure which is best..LED's side ways or up and down. You would think that it wouldn't matter if the reflector is truly conical to send light to the projector lens. Not sure how Toyota makes them.

From what I've seen it looks like sideways is the best but I could be wrong. Maybe I can email VLEDS and ask tho they may just say to experiment

The hids I go with are vvme 55 watt ac 5000k. Never used those in projectors before and haven't installed it in the truck yet.

In the past vehicles. These show very true white. And as it ages. Like a months worth of usage. It's sharp crystal white with a hint of purple. Like Cadillacs. And it stays that way for a while. $45. Can't complain. Tho. Of the 6 cars that have the same set I have. 2 didn't get that purple. so I guess the 2 didn't "fail".

Anthony.... bad news. I set the depth to 1 1/8" from the top of the LED square to the locking tabs and the assembly is about 1/4" too long. It will not fit :( . Going out for a scooter ride and will rethink this later today. Probably use them in the high beams and use Xenon Depots in the fogs.

Oh no Is that too long based on actual measurements? Or trial and error. They need a slim line model of these. Hopefully they won't charge me if I send them back

There's another 1/8" adjustment to the collar but it won't be enough. You can always use them in your hi beams.

This is unfortunate news. Thanks for keeping all of us in the loop.

Very true. I wonder how well they would work in the high beams. I know they're super bright but not sure how far they'll throw. Might get some morimoto HIDs for my lows and use my existing HIDs in my fogs. I definitely want my highs bright but gotta make sure they'll light the distant stuff for me

I'm sure they could slim it down in the back a little bit. Maybe next design. It definitely sucks that a truck with that much room under the hood is that tight

I can recommend what NOT to buy - the Nokya Cosmic White 5000K 80W bulbs.

    Where's the light?

Stock bulbs have better output and coverage.

Anthony. The problem is that the side engine compartment/fender wall is right there in the center. It's open on either side. They fit fine in the hi beam. Probably play with the highs tomorrow night to see how they work there.

    Hi Sam B,

Thanks for the news on the fitment of the VLEDS in the low beam connection, disappointing that they won't fit!

I will be very interested to see how they fit in the high beam location, came back from a long night drive tonight and I am not overly impressed with the stock projector halogens so I was really hoping the VLEDS were going to fit. The high beam halogens were a bit better.

Don't know what I am going to go with now to upgrade the projectors .

Yea that's what I noticed when I went to test drive them. If they only moved that over one way or another. I was hoping worst case I could take the housing out and get it to fit that way. A bit extreme but would be worth it. Guess not. I'll wait patiently for a better solution. In the meantime back to HIDs

Sam did you get a chance to play with the high beams at all? Curious to see how they perform before I send them back. Not sure if it would be worth it to put them in the fogs (if it's even possible)

In as much as possible? it cant fit in there period because of clearance issues. The sheet metal is centered directly behind the headlight about 1 3/4" of clearance from the headlight back

I don't know about anyone else, but I have been flashed for high beams 5 times in a week when I am not using high beams. I now drive around at night with my hand poised on the turn signal lever so I can quickly flash back anyone who flashes me.
