What's up everyone? A few weeks ago I signed a contract for my very first Tacoma. I've been shopping around for trucks for almost a year now. I always wanted a Tundra, but realized it was too big for what I need a truck for and the gas mileage was just killer. I signed my contract on October 12 for a TRD Sport DCSB 4x4 (black) with the Premium and Technology upgrade with JBL. I was back and forth between the long and short bed for a few weeks and settled for the short. I have a Kawasaki 250 KLX, and I wanted the long bed so I could fit my bike and close the tailgate, but even with the long bed I don't know if that is possible. I work all over the place, sometimes in the city (Milwaukee) and have to park in structures frequently and I didn't want to deal with parking a DCLB.

Anyway, I got an e-mail from the dealer today saying my truck will be built the first week of December. So, by the time I get it, it will be about 2 months or a little more from the day I placed the order. Does this length of time seem pretty typical for everyone else? Or are you guys getting them sooner or later? Just trying to get a conversation going!

I ordered mine August 27th. Scheduled to be built December 10. Probably get delivery around Christmas if I'm lucky. That's around 17 weeks wait.

Wow bro! Yeah I ordered mine on October 12th like I said and they gave me a December 10th build date as well. They told me I'd hopefully have it by Christmas. How anxious are you getting? That's kind of a ridiculous wait

I ordered mine on September 23. Its a white DCSB TRD OR 6 speed manual 4x4. Just got a build date today for December 9. I hope mine comes in before Christmas! It seems some have short waits while others have longer waits. All depends on what region you live in and what you want.

Yeah for sure. Have you had Tacomas before? Always have a short bed?

This is my first Tacoma! I am so pumped! I really wanted a long bed for fishing poles, 4 wheelers, mountain bikes, ect. But I have to have a manual transmission, so I had to go with the short bed. But from what I have seen, you can still put a sport 4 wheeler or dirt bike in the bed with the tailgate down, so no capability lost, just got to be smart about how you use it.

They're only building certain trims on pre-scheduled days because adding the premium electronics and moo roofs and such changes the timing on the line. Because these days are pre-scheduled, that limits how many they make. When demand is greater than availability, you end up waiting 3 months.

Mine is due to port 19 December, ordered in mid-August.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. My pops would haul our bikes with his tailgate down and it worked fine. I also was thinking about the fishing pole thing, but it helps having the rear sliding window for the poles. I got the bed extender too so if I have my bike back there and I can still put coolers, luggage, etc. back there without worrying about it sliding out.

went to my local dealership in mid-September and was given one of these with a wait time of 4 weeks. the 4 week mark passed and now i'm being told they're still looking for a truck that matches what i want (TRD AC OR 4x4-- Barcelona Red).

    2015-10-24 11.17.11.jpg

so i remain waiting. and now starting to reach out to the 3 or 4 other local dealerships and then maybe expand my search into Los Angeles.

This is the issue. They are only building like 3% of all tacomas in a TRDORLB config. And so far I've seen aton of guys with "build/allocations" for one. I bet some will end up not getting their orders filled unfortunately. Which is silly on Toyota, just let people buy what they want. Just trying to build one in the build tool on their page, you are stuck with certain options/packages for your region, so stupid.

I went to a dealer 800 miles away but I knew they would have more allocations for the exact truck I wanted. We found one in the pipeline that was allocated to the dealer and I put my name on it with a deposit. 3 weeks total and picked it up 3 days ago and got a great deal too. TRD OR DC 4x4 A/T

I ordered a TRD OR DCLB on 10/13 and there was nothing allocated for my region. As my dealer was calling around looking in other regions, they were allocated one by Toyota and put my name on it. Build date is 11/16 with delivery towards the end of November.
