    Hi everyone,

I don't have a 2016 Tacoma (yet), still deciding on a colour. My family and I have owned a bunch of Toyotas and I've noticed the quality of the paint has been subpar and most of the vehicles are prone to chips/nicks/scratches really easily with certain paints...

I had a 2002 Celica in Black. Car was amazing, paint was awful. I think the new 2016 Tacoma has the same paint code. That worries me.

I currently have a 2013 Camry in Attitude Black. Car has been great, paint's been better, a few surface scratches and I like the subtle metallic in it more than my Celica.

My wife's 2013 Rav4 is Blue. Her paint chips if you look at it the wrong way. Brutal.

My dad's had a few Tundras have been white, and they have held up well.

I like the Magnetic Grey colour on the Tacoma, and since that code has been around a while, how does that paint colour seem to hold up?

I drive a lot of highway so I'm aware that's part of the reason for stone chips etc...

The mag grey might hide better than black, but definitely still very prone to swirl marks.

Get Silver Sky Metallic (1D6). Best colour made for the truck and it holds very well over time.

This was my second choice over quicksand. I wanted inferno, but couldn't see it holding up much better for me than black or other dark colours. Is it true that the non metallic colours can hold up better than metallic, or is it just that they're easier to colour match?

White and Silver Tacomas have always been fine as far as chips. IF I get too many I use Dr Colorchip for chip rash. Beats painting the bits ..I don't worry about chips anymore since discovering Dr colorchip. I certainly do not like any Plastic coverings like Xpel or 3M except on a few spots like rocker panels. Especially on a white vehicle where the edges get dirty and a black line can be seen where the covering ends.

Anyone have BBP problems yet? I was actually hesitant to order mine because my wife's black 2008 RAV4 has hood chips like no one's business that I've had to grind down and patch with paint after rust formed. I've never seen it so bad.

The non metallics do not have clearcoat. Makes them easier to 'work', can make them easier to match if a repair is needed.

I'm not sure any of them are harder or thicker than another. Very doubtful. All the new environmentally friendly paints are a bit weaker IMHO.

I wanted white, and that's what I bought. While it looks nice, I wasn't worried about looks as much as I was long term care and repair (like 20yrs or so) And being in Fl, it is cooler, and no clear to fail.

In the new ones I'd go for white again, or maybe quicksand, assuming that's non metallic too. Looks like it would be great at hiding many shades of dirt. :D

Quicksand is definitely non-metallic. I love it. I think white might still be easier to work with, but time will tell how this holds up. I'm hoping it won't show the swirls like my MGM did.

I test drove a silver SR 4X2 4 popper and I can tell you the paint is allot nicer looking than what is on my silver 15' Colorado.

I thought the silver looked good as well, it's different than other silver colors

White is probably the easiest to repair and most durable. It's a singe stage paint. Not sure about black and red, they may be too. I took my first very small chip last week when I passed a guy on the side of the road with a weed eater.

I own a black 2004 4Runner w/ 103,000 miles and it has absolutely no rock chips on it. The paint does show a lot of swirl marks but I think that's because the owners before me didn't know how to freaking wax a car.

All the 2016 colors are multi stage paints now (including super white and quicksand). I emailed Toyota 2 weeks ago to confirm and they did saying, "Toyota no longer uses single stage paints, all paints have a clear coat on top of the color." If you don't believe me, email them and confirm for yourself.

My Barcelona Red is exceptionally good. No orange peel, not a single swirl.

White is the thinnest of colors. It takes more coats verses a dark color to get good coverage = thicker paint.
    That's why I ordered white!

Our silver vehicles have held up extremely well. I was going to go with silver or white for this very reason but once I saw the quicksand it was game over. I anticipate the quicksand will hold up as well but without a doubt white or silver should be your easiest colors to deal with.
