    He has two transfer cases and the option to be in 2wd or 4wd.

    So, left one is the 2wd/4wd selector, then the two right ones control each transfer case whether it's in low or high. Factory cases have a gear ratio of around 2.8:1, and the 2nd transfer case is normally around 4:1

    So, he can be in hi-hi (1:1 gear ratio), hi-lo (4:1), lo-hi(2.8:1), or lo-lo (~12:1) in either 2wd or 4wd.

    They're more useful (I think) if you have a manual trans because you don't have to worry as much about creating a smoke show with your clutch since the lower you are ratio wise the less chance of stalling.

    The inchworm box is actually a 4.7:1 ratio but you got the rest dead on.
