    I'm tempted too lol.

What GM rear end did they use in the Colorado anyways? I'm guessing not the same one as out of the 1500? That would of been sweet if they did. I wonder if the Diesel will get the half ton rear end. I hope so, or else it could be the Titan gong show all over again.

Whats not different is the cheap ass electronics used by GM. The radio in my 2015 Corvette has been in 5 times and is still bad.

Toyota truck product is hands down better than GM's.

Car and Driver shouldn't review trucks, period.
When shopping for my truck, I looked at the Colorado. That's all it took. Looking at it. Rejected it without even driving it.
And let's talk resale. I bought my 2015 Tacoma in April, $32,400. Traded it in on the 16 last week with 5800 miles, got $31,500.
900 bucks to drive it 6 months. Wanna guess what a Colorado trade in would be after 6 months?

Don't get me started on Corvettes...I had two of them. Crossed it off my bucket list..Never again GM. My Vettes had less than 25K and 16K and had issues and GM service around here is beyond terrible. The Corvette has had Harmonic balancer issues forever and GM still did not use the ATI part. Weeping oil pan gaskets are over $800 to replace. Fuel pumps over $2000 and the band plays on. What about the dropping valves grenading the 427s?

My MX 5 is built like a tank in comparison. and a lot more fun to drive.

Just curious.....at the end of the day, does it even really matter? I mean, who really cares who's truck can beat up who's truck? Seems silly. :notsure:

Nope it doesn't matter one bit. People can and should buy whatever they want. However, if you intend on waving you Internet penis around about how sweet a Colorado is you should expect some cock slapping back the other way. Personally I hope someone I know builds up a Colorado eventually. It'd be nice to see exactly how capable a new one is with a few K of mods into it on the local trails.

No....I'm serious...not trying to start anything. I can understand a thread with some posts about the competition from time to time. But for multiple threads to go on and on for months about who's truck is superior seems silly. But what do I know? o_O

I'm with you there. If Ford still built a Ranger I would be driving one and would not care what people thought. 2018 maybe, who knows. I miss my little Rangers.

Gen I Tundra's had that Eaton rear diff as an option. I have it on my '05. Seems OK to me. I get a little teeny bit of wheel slip, then BAM the clutches engage and the truck takes off like a rocket. Seems like real good balance between the wheels with the skinny pedal down hard.

In 4WD the Eaton works well also, it keeps me out of open differentials because it locks up the spinning rear wheels pretty quick.

Hmm interesting I didn't know that anyone other than GM had offered the G80 type locker.

I read the C/D article awhile ago. I thought it captured the overall situation pretty well. Being "current designs" these trucks compete in a segment of two, and that's not enough competition to really commit either company to try harder unless the GM twins take off or midsize in general enjoys a surge, with Ford and Nissan waking up.

We know the Frontier is coming pretty soon. Nissan's been weak for a long time but they might pull off a miracle here. It's totally baffling why the maker of the nation's most popular vehicle, the F150, doesn't maintain a competitive Ranger.

Read the part about how full size trucks are now more modern; the situation was certainly the opposite several decades ago. Once upon a time you could even buy a truck with a rotary (Mazda). We are a long way from those days when such risks are taken. One thing that stuck out for me was how winner will apparently be keeping bed liner companies in business. (That's not a compliment.) As popular as Tacomas are, "we" aren't the "true" truck market and haven't been for a long time (if we ever were.)

C/D clearly acknowledged Tacoma's insane resale value and other attributes, but it's not up to anyone to assume what will be the better vehicle 5 or 10 years down the road. These trucks are only new once, while sitting on a dealer's lot and that's all anyone can compare them with any objectivity.

Some people don't really buy new vehicles to keep them forever, and for them Colorado is likely the more modern (and overall, better) choice. My favorite part of the article was the example they give of a guy looking at a 2016 10 years from now and thinking, "yeah I could probably get another 100K miles out of it."

And there's still a Ranger page at ford.com

    "THE 2011 RANGER
Although the Ford Ranger has been phased out, have you considered a Ford F-150 or Ford Escape?"

Maybe things will be different in 2018 or whatever the rumor is there.

The F100 would of been a Unibody truck built off of the same platform as the Explorer. I'm glad they decided to turf that idea.
