    Hello all,

I have for sale a 1996 Tacoma. Some highlights are a new short block + reman heads professionally installed roughly 40,000 miles ago and geared and locked 4:88's and arb's. The list goes on... heres the add on CL

    https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5283158363.html

Asking $9,500 OBO. Located in Fort Collins, CO.

Has a few small dents in the tail gate, the passenger rear view mirror is cracked. Everything else is perfect.

Bump. Fixed the rear locker, new seals and some internal hardware. Shocking lack of interest, would anyone be so kind as to at least chime in why? I know it's priced high but damn, the thing has like $12k in it not including a new engine.

280K miles, the drop bracket lift ( not many people are fond of them ), and you mention it has had a paint job and you don't know why, makes me think as a buyer that it was probably in an accident etc...

It'll take a special buyer to get that much for it. As was mentioned, the mileage (in spite of the engine swap) is high for the money, and the age is old for that money. It won't matter if you've poured $25k into it, it's still a 1996 with 280k miles. Unless you're talking about a collectible vehicle, you/an average seller rarely ever (and more honestly, never) get your money back out of a vehicle.

    GLWS!

Appreciate the insight! I basically cut the cost of all the after market in half just in parts. The labor cost for install was probably double that! Well I'm determined not to cave just to sell so I guess I'll just have to be patient.

Hey Jimmy, where are you at in CO?

I'm down in the Denver area.

I was one of those special buyers at one time. I had sold my wheeling rig before moving to CO and wanted something more family-friendly/comfortable for wheeling but did not have the time or space to build another one. So, already built was OK with me so long as I liked all the aftermarket add-ons. That's the kicker. I've been very fortunate that my two-owner wheeling rig has been so good to me. I paid more than the average person would pay, and in the long run it worked out very well. No major issues in almost ten years.

I would take new/better pictures of it. Go in the street out of the tree shade, I've always found that the better your pictures the faster it sells.

Gen X -cause they're the best. Haha no the 96 is also a first gen, little changed between it and a 2004 except for the body (basically the front end) and certain electronics. The gen 2 is when they introduced a new chassis and engine...

    Bump!

It will sell, you will just have to sit on it. I sat on an item for over a year before it sold.

That's a pretty good deal, little high in miles but it's a well maintained tacoma so that's no big deal. If this was in california it would have sold super fast! Good luck with your sale

Thanks for the motivation guys! Been sitting too long, this truck needs to get snatched up.

What do you guys think of Auto Trader? Not free but I'm wondering if it will help to spread the ad a little farther.
