    How much stiffer are the stock vs the 885/886? Used my acme threaded spring rod from my old beemer days on the initial install. Possibly at least one change out left on them. I'm lacking floor jack and stands for the swap, may a back too.

    At work, so internet is slow, just google spring rates for tacoma and OME 885/886 and see what the poundage for each is. If youve got a ghetto way of getting those springs on and off, I'll let you do it :). But ive got a jack and stands and most basic garage tools needed for suspension.

    Oh yea, where you leave the bottom bolted and just jack up the LCA until everything combines, then just bolt it all together, a little sketch for me still. I guess if I had to do that, I would, but I'm looking in to a good sturdy wall mounted one.
    Once I go LT I'm gonna want to be able to break down shocks for rebuilds and I don't wanna be using some handheld to do it. Just personal preference...theres alot of potential energy that Id prefer to be controlled as much as possible :)

    Id go with 886s. I had 885s with a pelfreybuilt plate bumper without a winch and the 885s sagged quite a bit. However i also also have full skids and sliders. but i would go 886s. Just my .02

    Yea if you want to maintain 2"+ lift, I'd say go with 886s. Like I said before, my prerunner with a hybrid Pelfreybilt bumper got about 2 1/2-3" of lift on 885s, With all of that weight and 4x4, you'd probably be sagging badly pretty quickly

    Yeah I don't think it works for full coil overs like Icon, King, etc.

    Works great for strut/coil assemblies like stock/old man emu

    Yeah I'm not sure what difference the 4 cyl makes, but my 887s have sagged more than I thought they would compared to 885s. Makes sense bc they are the same spring rate. I'd go 886s with your setup. Can't remember the exact 886 spring rate, but 885 and 887 are 590#

    So, I'm not going to have a welder by this mod day, I was looking at a cheaper hobart 110 mig, but several people have recommended I spend the extra cash and go for the larger 220 mig Miller, for truck stuff. So thats gonna have to wait until I can get some more OT. Plus side, January-Marchish I'm gonna basically be working every single day for at least 2 months. So theres a lot of shit paid off and a couple toys.

    Yes on the Miller also.

    I have a 110 welder and it is worthless for hanging parts on frames. Runs .030 and you need to preheat anything above 3/16. Trust me on this, I have been welding for the past 35 years.

    Its all good. Just make sure to pack plenty of snacks for the drive. Dont drive for more than 8 hours without a nap. Or, dont pack any snack, man up, drive that shit at 100mph and get here in like a day. World record is what, 29 hours from coast to coast.
