It used to be that when towing a trailer, you had to replace the standard turn signal flasher with a heavy duty one to prevent the turn signals from flashing too fast. From what I've been able to figure out so far, however, the factory tow package on my 2010 is set up so that's not necessary. Indeed, I'm not sure the "flasher" is even the simple plug in unit that it was on older vehicles. Am I correct?

I'm not sure what your saying, but, all you have to do is plug your trailer to the plug on your truck and go.
make sure all your lights are working before your drive.

Modern flashers are electronic rather than mechanical like the older ones. I'm sure that the newer Tacomas have the electronic ones in them and they automatically compensate for changes in the the number of bulbs introduced into the system when you plug in a trailer harness.

    I hope this helps.
